When I arrived at Coffee Anthology I was greeted by a sign showing the different coffees available from Padre, Axil and Small Batch. Aside from the already high rating on Beanhunter, my expectations were lifted that this was going to be a great cafe. I was not disappointed! The waitress who took my order of a long black asked whether I preferred chocolatey or floral coffee - the former in my case - and when the coffee came out it was excellent. I had a further long black and then tried the cold drip, which was also delicious and just the thing for a hot, humid day. I would definitely recommend trying this cafe out. I’ll be heading back for a coffee tomorrow before I return to Melbourne.
Reviews of Coffee Anthology
Very pleasant staff. Good coffee. But 8/10 on that. My flat white (which I take in a 12oz cup in the morning) wasn’t perfectly textured. It was featured but the featuring was lighter than usual and the bubbling wasn’t perfect. I suspect it was done a bit quick. Having said that the beans themselves were excellent, the coffee gave a very nice after taste. I did tell them I came for review so this was their best shot at it and to my surprise they didn’t offer me a choice of beans. I only found out they had several go offer when I went to pay. I would come back however will go for an 8Oz next time or ask for an extra shot. They seem to have a good kitchen also. Nice croissant which I had. Avo on toast looked nice next to me. But the 8/10 on coffee mean I’ll be hunting for my perfect cup elsewhere in Brisbane.
Took two tries to get in on a Saturday morning but it was worth it. Three of us tried Daddy’s Girl blend which we all agreed was excellent. Our fourth tried the Columbian blend which tasted as per the tasting notes, macerated strawberries was the defining taste. Not to my taste after having a sip, but our fourth said it went well with her chocolate slice.
