Not a bad little place... Small setup within an organic foodstore/cafe.
They were using Bun coffee from Byron... I thought the coffee was ok but seemed to lack body (which I think might be down to the Bun coffee?... I've bought beans for home and it seems to lack stability perhaps?).
This is great for the sunshine coast, a new specialty roaster producing great coffee.
I had a small flat white takeaway, which they do double ristretto so you get a perfect volume of coffee.
They don't have a house blend but instead have a constant rotation of single origins - great way for customers to discover different beans.
Syphon is on offer too :)
I was suprised when I read the bad reviews for Belissimo Coffee - Mark and the boys are producing fantastic coffee.
Every single cup I've had has been sensational - they know exactly what they're doing and the unique roasts they're producing have so many great flavour characteristics.
Thanks guys for your passion and efforts to improve the Brisbane coffee scene - I'm a loyal supporter!
The coffee is just incredible, which comes down to owner Pete's extensive experience - over 27 years I believe?
I had a flat white w/ cup of excellence #13 beans which had incredible complexity - amazing flavours!
The service is fantastic, very friendly and attentive staff.
I think this establishment deserves a larger space to cater for its popularity - it does feel a bit tight with the limited space, which does take away from the atmosphere unfortunately.
Great coffee. The owner/barista cares about great coffee so you will be happy with the results.
He uses local roaster (originally from Melbourne) Veneziano Coffee - very nice.
Merlo Fortitude Valley is a wholesale roasting house open to the public - one of four by Brisbane Roaster Dean Merlo. Merlo is the best coffee coming out of Brisbane at the moment, alongside Brisbane's Dibella coffee (in my opinion :P)
You can order take away coffee here or have a complimentary coffee (inhouse/takeway) when you buy beans. They will also grind your beans if required to whatever setting you need.
The Merlo outlets (the ones run by Merlo) are very serious about good coffee and every single staff member that works on the machine is well experienced - I think you will find it...
When I worked in West End, I would grab a takeaway from West End Coffee House every morning... it is great coffee.
They used Dibella back in the day but have changed to Campos - still making fantastic coffee - thanks to barista owner Guy who is passionate about great coffee and won't let anyone near the machine unless they really know what they're doing.
They have a nice, simple selection of food to go with the coffee too, and I believe the Chai lattes are quite good too.
Blue Lotus is a great little cafe in the Kelvin Grove Urban Village, adjacent to QUT University.
The coffee is great when the guy with the long hair is on (most of the time) - as is always the case, it is mostly the barista that makes for a great coffee.
I stop by here every Sunday pretty much for a takeaway coffee - very convenient as its on a quite side street and the takeaway section is opened up to the street.
The other staff could cheer up a bit, and the food is not that exciting, but if your just looking for coffee, its great.
