I work right near this new Mecca store + up the road from their roastery. Finally got to hit this shop this morning. Piccolo was amazing, long black was even better. Full flavour profile. Perfect temperature. After a terrible coffee yesterday at a place near my house this was a great experience. I'm not surprised though as the Mecca's quality control is second to none.
I discovered Fina possibly 6 months ago and have been meaning to write a review for quite some time, but it was my long black this morning that got me writing this review.
I'd like to start by saying that this is my pick for best coffee on the North Shore, it would be in my top 3 in Sydney too.
Staff are always cool and most importantly, nailing the shots and milk behind the machine. There are only 2 barista's who make the coffee (one being the owner) so this place is consistent and I would say I have never had a bad or even average coffee here.
Food is also very good I frequent the ...
This place is so tucked away but definitely the highlight of the coffee experience in Mosman. The competition is quite fierce in this area but I have never been let down by the coffee here.
I would say that this place represents Campos Coffee the best out of any of their accounts.
Another plus is the attention to takeaway coffee's, always consistently good.
Only downside is the tiny space so don't go in a group and don't expect to read the paper comfortably.
Pablo & Rusty's is situated right by the train station at Gordon, it always bustling with people and the coffee is most often very good, although I find the house blend doesn't quite hit the spot.
They really need to install a decent air conditioner for summer as it's almost unbearable on a hot day, but in winter it's the ideal place for a nice coffee in Sydney's north.
I'm a big fan of Brother Baba Budan and it's always the highlight of my trips to Melbourne- but is unfortunately shut on Sunday's. I discovered that their roastery Seven Seed's is just out of the city and is open on Sunday's- score.
I like the way there is minimal signage and it's situated on a quiet street and was surprised when I walked in that it was full of people and was a nice open space.
My piccolo was exceptional, tried a clover which was awesome then had a takeaway which was also amazing.
Food is good too, highly recommend this place.
After hearing good thing's about this place, I visited on a Sunday afternoon, and there was a lengthy line and wait- which I don't mind if the coffee is worth waiting for. Had a double ristretto piccolo and it was quite burnt so I had a single shot cap and it was also a burnt shot that stayed in my mouth for the next 30 minutes.
I'll try them again when I'm next in the area but wasn't a pleasant first experience.
Forsyth's has been around for a long time, most of the coffee's I've tried from there have had decent extractions but the milk is very inconsistent, it just seems like they are rushing them out even when it isn't busy.
The house blend is very good though, you can't go wrong with a short or long black.
The Source features a roaster in the shop and they do their own blend, with a good amount of space leftover. But on every visit having both sit down and takeway coffees I've found the extractions to be quite inconsistent- and often on the bitter/burnt side. Might be due to overroasting their blend but i'm sure it'll improve in the future.
Being open on Sundays is a plus, but for the best coffee in Mosman I'd stick to the Penny Royale.
