I needed an early morning coffee fix (not called Starbucks) on a recent trip to New York, and ended up here after searching for cafes in my vicinity via Beanhunter. I am happy to report I was not disappointed. Excellent espresso and flat whites and a wonderful breakfast menu make for a very pleasant start to the day. The only caveat- given the affiliation to what appears to be a pricey hotel, breakfast and coffee while being really well made were not cheap.
All in all cost quibbles aside, excellent experience and I would return if I am in the area next time.
We visited the cafe in the Old Mint Building while on holiday in San Francisco on numerous occasions, and the coffee was of extremely high quality every single time. The setting within a historic building makes for an interesting ambience and this is aided by a well selected layout and retro furniture. They make a pretty mean brunch, but the nicest item on their food menu is the snickerdoodle which is flavored with saffron-yummy!

Speaking of the coffee here, it tends to be variable in quality. I've had a few near perfect cups of their 'stumpy' drink here. But there have been lots of not so great cups either, so its a little bit of a lottery really. They do make a nice iced latte though, for those rare London summer afternoons
The big negative about this place is the service which is acceptable at best, and mostly borders on the disinterested.
