Ever put on an old jacket and reached into your pocket and found $50?
Well that's what this cafe is like. To look at It's really pretty rough round the edges. Looks like your grandmother searves Devonshire teas from it. However. Chris the main owner is a BOSS barista. He has tuned his machine to perfection the long black I was served on 2 consecutive days was as good as anything experienced in Fitzroy. Realistically they should pump some money into a revamp of its Decor to match the calibre of coffee as I am sure the holiday crowd would flock to this establishment.

This us a unique cafe experience. With the servery separating the take away croydon from the diners. I went there for breakfast and was well impressed by there derive and food. I ordered a birchir musili which was the bomb. Full of fruity goodness. As well as fruit toast on the side which had big chunks of figs. Supurb! The long black was not bad, the pull tasted a little bitter for me with not the kick I was anticipating. However I did order a second one so it must have been doing something good.

Well if you live in Collingwood or Fitzroy, you would be well aware that cafes...and good cafes are peppered all around you. However, if there is one thing that Melbourne can never get enough of, is MORE killa cafes.

Proud Mary is the latest edition to a ever growing collection of caffeinated experiences in the area. But Oh my goodness, Mary should be proud of what she has created! Situated on a corner which is always an awesome start AND just off Smith Street you will find this treasure trove of an establishment. Complete with every type of caffeine experience you could desire. INCLUDING ...

The Little Marionette

OK, I'm gonna get straight to the point..ROCK and FREAKING ROLL. So I had not slept for 3 days. I had just finished up a massive deadline at work and was lazing around Sydney for the weekend to recover. And 'The Little Marionette' was going to be my jump off point. But instead of lounge in the very poky Cafe space, there is a public park straight across the road with huge palm trees and a steep LUSH grass embankment. I needed to lie down on that grass, and fast!

I promptly got in the busy line and perused the menu. If it's a quick bite or a lunch you're after, I think you better get down h...

So it was the day before the Aroma Coffee festival held at 'The Rocks' in Sydney. The weather was perfect and you could sense the anticipation of caffeine overload in the air. But there was still 24 hours to go and I needed a fix.

I was in Balmaine and needed some local advice. A guy told me that "hands down" Cafe Bertoni Casalinga was the best coffee to be found in Balmain. Pretty soon I found my legs heading there, and even sooner smelt the sweet chocolaty aroma wafting through the air. And no wonder. The Cafe opens its entire front window onto the street. This place was pumping with peo...

I think the name says it all. Minlokal is clearly aimed at the locals in Fitzroy. Squeezed between residential townhouses, this cafe is easily missed. But don't let the frontage confuse you. Inside is a treasure trove of culinary and caffeine delights. Serving Coffee Supreme and knowing exactly how to deliver what the doctor ordered.

The moment I walked in I was greeted by the operator who asked me straight away what I would like and to take a seat. 2 large communal tables reinforce the local vibe while I shot back the most perfectly pulled short black I have had I think EVER! perfect temp...

It was a cold winters morning when I stumbled across Caboose. I was thirsting for a glass of caffeine comfort when I found myself conversing with a very interesting French Barista by the name of Vincent. Seriously this guy should be cast in a movie. He welcomed me to sit an enjoy a long black made with Fair trade organic beans.

The Creme was perhaps a little thin, but the draw was correct. No hint of burnt grains or over extraction. A nice hazelnut and chocolate length left on the pallet. It was great to see all the staff chatting to customers like old friends. I would certainly go back fo...

So I walk into this place and the thing which strikes you is this place is big. Love it, big communal table down the back with a crazy massive aluminum lamp shade hoisted above. And to top it off perhaps the most iconic thing you notice is the dear head on the wall. Very cool!

I ordered a short black. I swear this thing certainly did not need any sugar. Whatever bean they are using is very sweet. Almost like a desert.

The place was full of people on this busy Saturday afternoon as the sun went down streaming light beams into the relaxed atmosphere. Yeah I would go back here, it's sweet.
