Just had an Aero of Ethiopia Natural Guji. Don't typically post about one drink but this deserves it. It smelt like chicken korma! The flavour was very earthy, forest floor, spice (cloves? chili?) and, once it cooled, chicken soup!
The most unique tasting coffee I've ever had.
DandD consistently produces the best coffee I have ever tasted. I feel as if I'm tasting the story of the beans; from the plantation to the barista pouring the shot.
DandD also provides the most amazing latte art I have seen.
Staff are wonderful. The place is cool too; but lose a point because my personal taste is to sit on milk crates or an old sofa when I drink my coffee.
After a long trek I finally got to this place having been recommended by the staff at Proud Mary. They have an amazing machine and use Proud Mary beans. Was utterly disappointed. The waitresses were lovely but the barrista didn't want to know me and the place had no real appeal.
Ordered the single origin (a Columbian I think) as a piccolo. So bitter that I couldn't make out any other flavours.
Gave them a second chance by letting them know what I thought and ordering a double ristretto piccolo of the house blend. So bitter that I couldn't finish without cringing.
The place has no particular charm except for being on Acland St in St Kilda and the staff were nice enough.
I had a double ristretto piccolo of the house blend (Sensory Lab beans). It had a robust, rich flavour, sweet and acidic with dark chocolate lingering. I give it a 9 because they could texture the milk slightly better - but they don't have a great machine.
Very cool place with friendly staff passionate about coffee. It's a bit overwhelming with how much is going on and how busy the place is.
Had a double ristretto piccolo of the house blend. Beautiful! It was sweet and acidic flowing to floral and berry flavours. I give it 8-9.
Food was spectacular too.
Seven Seeds has great service and an open atmosphere that makes you feel like you're in a vibrant museum dedicated to coffee.
Had a piccolo of the house blend. It was good, very mellow and made you feel like you were drinking coffee not a juice box. But, it was way too mellow for my liking. I expect more robust flavours from a piccolo but they just didn't cut through the milk. I give it a 6 or 7.
Had to give it another try due to the hype. Ordered house blend magic (I'll stick to my double ristretto piccolos next time). Slightly better with some more complex flavours coming through; dark cho...
I LOVE this place. It's more of a restaurant, but you can tell that the coffee is what matters here. Service and food are fantastic. Really liked the layout.
I had a siphon Ethiopia Yirgacheffe which was bright and clear with very strong citrus once it cooled a little. Small amount of tannins with an overall Earl Grey feel. 9/10
Next was the house blend piccolo which was sweet with honey, maple syrup and caramel but also with a feeling of orange flavour. Perfect 10.
I finished with a single origin Ethiopia Shakiso 'Guji Natural' piccolo. A very subtle bean. I'd recommend a double ristretto ...
