Everyone in the biz seems to talk about it so I had to visit......don't know if I should have (sorry guys). It is obvious that this is a serious coffee house just check out the roaster but you have to get over the coffee geek stuff and serve up coffee for the punters.
I love my coffee and that is why I enjoyed my short black but was hoping for a bit more volume. My milk based coffee and that of my friends was at best luke warm (wish I had a thermometer) and almost undrinkable (my weekday barista recommended it and said that the temp may be off a little).
Loverly setting and cool shop.
If this was a cafe review and not a coffee review it would be a 9/10 but because coffee is the focus it hardly gets a pass mark.
This lovely little cafe has all the boxes ticked when it comes to fitout. The menu is extensive and interesting (no big breakfast here) and my partner and I could not fault either the green eggs and ham or the fritters we enjoyed for breakfast.
The coffee on the other hand was dissapointing for a number of reasons. If you cannot be bothered to wipe the drip tray so that used coffee grinds and water dont end up on the bottom of the cups then at least give them a...
How excited I was to see someone hand dosing Di Bella's Felici Blend. How disappointed I was that it was not extracted fully leaving my piccolo weak. What a shame because otherwise it was a well made coffee.
If the barista wants to listen to heavy metal at work I suggest getting a new job because nothing ruins what could be a nice comfortable setting like this than over loud over heavy music. Suppose it is to drown out that traffic noise from one of Brisbanes main roads running right past the front door.
What a pleasure to walk into a cafe and see an active roaster in the corner. A wall of coffee gear on the other wall is also great.
Coffee was one of the best I have ever had and I have had a few. Milk was at the right temp and coffee was rich and full bodied.
Show some interest and the owner is more than happy to have a chat.
Seriously if looking for a coffee place in Brisbane this is a not to be missed.
What a setting, love sitting along the high bench and watch the action. A three coffee order produced an acceptable short black but the milk based drinks had to sit until they had cooled enough to drink. Why do they do that?
Allowing to spy on the technique is always a bit of a risk at any cafe and in this cafe it does not pay off. Coffee is allowed to grind endlessly even though no order is pending.
Overall coffee was fine but far too hot and just a little too much bitterness.
You have to be kidding. I dont undestand the pricing for one. I wanted a double shot 8 oz flatty which costs more than a 12 oz flatty with two shots??????????. Coff was luck warm at best and did not have a creamy texture at all which you would expect if the milk was cut shot. If tis is what CIBO has to offer I dont know.

Roast their own coffee and change the blend of the day on a whim. Also pour a single origin each day (what more could an addict want). If you are a budding home barista make the trip as I learrnt more in an hour there then days and days of forums or casual chats over local cafe machines. Each roast is date stamped which is a more necessary bit of info wanted by the home user of today.
All I can say is go!!!!!!
If you want to charge $3.50 for an espresso get it right. The coffee seemed to be well made but it was served in a large (for an espresso) shallow cup that did it no justice. My waitress informed me they didnt do picc lattes so i went for a double. Again served in a strange glass but well made it also lacked the punch expected. Breakfast was ok.
