The place is sparse, feels more like a diner than a cafe. The staff were friendly, but the food was average as was the coffee. I ordered a Latte, it was too hot and too weak. Too bad for 8 Days, I won't be back. Definitely not up to Duke or Coin Laundry standard.

no time was taken with the automated grind, no thought was given to the automated extraction, no care was given to the milk as it screeched to a holt.
not an offensive coffee, but i will never go here again.
On holidays from Melbourne... This cafe had the highest rating for Adelaide, so I thought it was a must try. Maybe my expectations were too high but this place failed to impress. The latte was not creamy, the foam just sort of sat on top of the milk. It was drinkable but not up to the standard I have come to expect in Melbourne.

Its in the Foyer of the Manchester Unity Building, corner of Swantson and Collins street, past the lifts, towards the filthy alleyway... ;)
All the best places in Melbourne are down stinky alleys.
Now that you've found it... on with the review.
This would have to be one of the smallest cafes in Melbourne. It quite literally used to be a switch board. Coffee to die for and a cute converted shop front window opposite to sit in and avoid thats icy Melbourne winter.
Best coffee I've had in Melbourne for a long time. (Since 'Switch Board' in the CBD changed baristas) Most of the staff are fantastic too... Say hi to Regina if you go in ;)
This is now my favourite hang out, I drive across Hawthorn in peak hour traffic for a coffee here.
and also... for regulars... they have wireless broadband internet, but shhhh... its a secret.
