Spotted a great coffee through the window and couldn't resist heading in. Up to scratch with it's Brooklyn counterpart. Staff weren't exactly chatty but coffee was legit so no complaints.
I'm a big fan.
The staff are great and get them talking and you'll leave here knowing more than when you walked in.
The Clover machine is like something out of Star Wars. The coffee it makes is great too. Really brings all the flavours out of the beans. Perfect for trying a few... Read more
I went to check out Cafe Grumpy the other day whilst in New York. I heard amazing things about this cafe from other baristas in my travels. The day I went must have been a bad day for them as my coffee was good but not fantastic. Maybe my expectations were too high. Anyway its still definately... Read more
I'm a big fan of Cafe Grumpy when ever I'm in this part of town. Consistently good coffee, two Clovers, and a no laptop rule makes for a great atmosphere for meeting and talking with people.
It can get crowded at times, but that's not a bad thing. It's off a quiet street so it can... Read more
Finally, good coffee in NY. Always love a flat white served at the right drinking temperature. Enough flavor to bring on a YES!
Cafe grumpy is a wonderful little gem tucked away in a rather strange part of Chelsea. It was definitely worth walking around for about half an hour from my apartment to for a cup of their scrumptious flat white. Love that they trying to encapsulate the raw cafe culture (similar to that of 1940's... Read more

Great place, tucked away on Chelsea. Staff are far from grumpy and the coffee is simply superb. Love that there's a no-laptop rule; means there's a conversational buzz as well as a caffeine buzz. I think they run courses in coffee-making too - worth checking out if you're an NYC resident!
One of the stops on my espresso tour of New York. Were pretty busy at the time, but were still pulling great shots. Really good use of their clover machine including some great single origins including Mountain Top from Australia!
