Just found it by accident but the coffee's so good. It's a hole-in-the-wall at The Galleries Victoria opposite the QVB. Friendly staff and quick service. I didn't have a taste of the food but it looked tasty and fresh. I guess the only negative is that you have to face a wall if you sit down so you can't really people-watch. Oh well.
Reviewed by: rksujeev | Date: 26th May 2010 | Report this reviewI found this place recently, my girlfriend told me she had found a new coffee place in the city and that it was really worth checking it.
I definitely wasn't disappointed. They use a custom blend from Toby's Estate with seven different beans and it has a really nice flavour profile.
The highlight here is the consistently great coffee's they deliver (especially in their takeaways which is rare) but also the service is second to none in Sydney as far as I am concerned.
It's extremely difficult to be able to make coffee, and chat at the same time, while maintaining quality and speed so my hat is off to the guys for this. Especially in such a busy area.
If you are in Sydney make sure you stop in and grab a coffee (or 2 or 3) from The Workshop Espresso.
The coffee was good but not the best I've tried in the city. The service was quick and professional but that was it, but I guess that was due to how busy it was. The shop itself was great but at a glance it seemed limited in options in regard to food and breakfast. Maybe I need to go on a regular basis.
Overall though it is worth a visit.
Great coffee love it. Great blend.
It's a great mix from what a hear from the master of blends Tobys estate coffee.
Well, l have to say the reviews are right! The coffee is truly something special. A fantastic latte teamed with a cherry and dark chocolate muffin - you can't ask for anything finer. Definitely worth a visit to this little coffee shop with lots of character.
Reviewed by: elifc | Date: 24th January 2010 | Report this reviewI ordered a long black and my colleague went for a flat white. Service was both friendly and fast. Both coffees were excellent, not too bitter with a very mild aftertaste of cashews and stout for the long black. I would deffinetly reccommend this place to coffee lovers.

My flat white was quite a bit more acidic than I was expecting. It's not my favourite coffee... But I can understand why others would rate it highly.
Just tracked down this place looking for a half decent coffee in the between-Christmas-and-New-Years lull ... wasn't sure if the queue outside was due to its quality of the lack of alternative options!
As it happens, looks like the queue is because of quality. Very friendly person on the front counter, coffee made quickly - very smooth latte, nutty flavour - and even though she was already serving another customer, the lady on the counter still made an effort to call out a "have a nice day" to us. Noticed she also made chit chat with tourists about where they had been and were going - great service.
And lastly nice decor as well - just a pity they don't have more real estate!
Barry Wong has crossed George Street and his coffee has never been better.
This hole in the wall is loud, constant buses whizzing past, but the staff are great and Barry's ability to work front of house, chat and keep track of numerous orders is phenomenal. Always a good experience.
Awesome new cafe we just found. Coffee and drinks were very quick and tasted great, along with sandwiches. The entire staff made a point to stop and talk to our kids it seemed and make them feel welcome which goes a long way with us. The range of specialty drinks was incredibly diverse and the service excellent. We'll be stopping by often as it is right by the Queen Victoria Building when we shop
Reviewed by: mikesavage | Date: 11th September 2009 | Report this reviewWorkshop Espresso opened a few weeks ago, and it's just doing EVERYTHING right. It's just so slick, and the people are so nice. Workshop Espresso feels like a cafe that's had someone's heart and soul poured in, but runs like it's a massive chain.
It just hits the mark.
The coffee is great. Just awesome. The food is fantastic, and it's served on cool little breadboards.
The cafe itself is wonderfully designed, featuring a bar on one side that is perfect for singles or couples to rock up to for a coffee and a bite to eat.
Not great for large groups, and I would struggle with my pram on child minding days. It's more the place to go to escape at lunchtime or to pick up a coffee en route.
Workshop Espresso is a groovy little oasis in the city where you can take a moment to read a magazine, play on your iPhone, and enjoy a nice coffee.
