The Original Pea Store

A quiet alternative to The Mailing Room if you are looking for somewhere to sit for a while, The Original Pea is more of a kitsch homewares store than a cafe, but is still a cut above most of the cafes in the area.

The coffee here is not particularly well produced, with no notable characteristics as an espresso, and average milk, but the service, character, and charm of this little cafe do make it a nice spot to visit.

This is store is TOPS, hidden at the back of Theatre Place off Maling Rd, Canterbury, is this gem of a coffee shop. Inside it is packed with the most useful and useless kitchen gadgets and you can purchase the artwork that is on display. The atmosphere is cute without being cutesy, that is to say a man would feel comfortable sitting in this café.

The coffee, never before have I seen such a mountain of froth on top of a decent sized coffee and only for $3. If you’re a froth fan like myself make sure the younger of the two gentlemen that work there serves you.
