Owner Andrew is one passionate guy - got recommended to come here from my local haunt in Mt Martha cause they have some sort of relationship (same beans I think) and the coffee was great. Talked to Andrew a little bit about when to use different origins and he knows his stuff.
Hit and miss. Unfortunately this happens when a business grows and supply is difficult to keep up with demand. If you are serious about getting the best from your coffee experience i suggest finding out their operating times and get in first thing in the morning.I have been here many times and find the busier they are the worse of the product is.When it's been me and a few others their product verges on amazing and is thoroughly enjoyed.Acceptable staff knowledge and skill about coffee. As this is a coffee-based rating system i reserve comment about service, food etc...
My partner and I regularly visit the Mailing Room and ALWAYS received excellent coffee & service. The barista(s) on duty are always keen to discuss the daily choice of coffee beans selection on offer; I usually opt for a single origin barista (double shot) and Karen has her favourite house blend latte.

The service is dreadful - staff who "tut" at you if you don't give way to them; tell you to go to the table to order then ignore you, or else ask if you've ordered "yet" just as you are sitting down; clear away your (untouched) water and (open) magazine if you dare to go to the loo before your order arrives; bring two coffees and try to tell you that you must have ordered a second cup when you've only just taken your first sip. The staff are young and clearly enjoy each others' company. Equally clearly, they don't enjoy having to serve c...

The service was worse than appalling. The large number of staff members seemed more interested in talking to each other and swanning around behind the counter instead of serving customers.
When we finally did get served, the food was served separately instead of together and just dumped on the table without a smile. Staff seemed very unfriendly towards customers. No smiles for customers, only each other. Bad attitudes (bordering on rude) all round. Without asking, waitress started clearing table before all were finis...
