Decided to visit after reading conflicting views. Flat White is hot enough with some character but not a standout and lacks any kick or bold flavours. Bought a kilo of beans which, sadly, was roasted three weeks ago. Barista claimed I wouldn't notice the difference but their next delivery was on Tuesday (a week away). Odd.

This place is the only place I've found in the Sydney CBD that makes a consistently strong good coffee. My work colleagues love it too!
They also get their muffins from the Swiss Bakery, who make really good mufffins!
Definitely recommend this for anyone who likes a good strong coffee.
Not recommended for those who pretend to like coffee but actually prefer warm milk with a bit of sugar.
Being in Sydney on business and trying to sample as much of the coffee as my system could process meant that on this one morning I had to try \"The Lab\".
I had been warned by OzDJ who as a long time friend and avid coffee geek to expect nothing and still be disappointed.
Yes disappointing is the word for this bitter, turgid brew proving that sometimes what happens in the lab should stay in the lab. Perhaps the product of paint stripping experiments I\'m wondering if I should finish the cup or use it to clean the sink.

I have been to The Lab Cafe on several occasions since it opened and have been extremely happy with my coffee. After trialling a flat white on my first few visits, I decided to put them through the espresso test... It was beautiful, not burnt and just delicious.
I have found the service super friendly and always get an enthusiastic "ciao" upon every visit.
The minimalist, industrial style fitout is great, i especially love the huge clock on the back wall.
Those of you that did not have a great experience may need to give it another shot and keep in my mind that they have only been op...

For me it is the best coffee in the area, I tried a lot and this little cafè is the way to have a quick and delicious coffee.
If you have no time to waste and you don't need (or you can't...) sit and relax, you can easily choose your snack and drinks (curious soft drinks to try) and have your professional coffee so fast. I like Di Lorenzo coffee and now I can confirm (again) that for me is always consistent and delightful.
The service is very friendly, always a smile, and you should taste the excellent muffins sometimes available cutted on the bench.

I agree with the above review - I was completely underwhelmed by the blase attitude of the barista...so rude and obviously does not care one bit about making a good coffee or whether his customers come back or not.
My capp itself was bland and uninspiring.
I definitely won't be back...Italian barista or not!
