I was lucky enough to work close to Taylor St Barista's so was able to visit nearly every day - sometime more than once! I often took 5-6 coffees back for others in the office. Everyone (even the Brits) loved the coffee from here, some even converted from boring old tea.
Always a massive queue down the street but it moves pretty quick and it's worth the 5-10 min wait.
Food counter is pretty extensive considering the small space.
Coffees are amazing but does depend on the barista. That said, there is never a bad coffee from this place.
Oh, and this is where I get my coffee beans fo...
This is a busy cafe operating out of a a small space.
Seating is a premium so don't expect to be able to sit down for a while with the paper and spread yourself out.
The focus seems to be on takeaway which is a bit of a bugbear of mine as I much prefer my coffee in a real cup.
The coffee is good and its obviously popular with the locals as queues seem normal and go well out the door.
The map's obviously been fixed. Got us there no probs.
This place served a surprisingly good double espresso. Surprising because they use Union Coffee, which is terribly inconsistent and difficult to work with (in this barista's opinion). Initially, I wrote the coffee off and nearly left after the first sip. Burnt and very bitter. But the fact that I'd queued and that there was still a queue of nine people in a place that fits seven kept me in there against the wall and my will. Happily, as the coffee cooled, out came the acid and a little sweetness that went some way to counter the bitternes...
Great coffee made using a Simonelli machine which makes a nice change from all the mazzers around town. Espresso always has a rich crema and great long flavour.
The food is great although the debate over jam in lamingtons continues here as they don\'t use any.
No real seating to speak of as it\'s so small but for a take away right near a major train station it\'s perfect.
Taylor St is awesome. Great coffee. Really nice staff. Tasty sandwhiches. Solid choc brownies. Wimsical lamingtons. And muffins that my non-muffin-eating girlfriend will chase down beacause they are proper muffins, not giant cupcakes.
Note they are New Street EC2M near Bishopsgate and Liverpool St station (Beanhunter has accidentally referenced them on the map as being near leather lane.
Note also that they have a new location (125 Old Broad Street towards the back of the building near Throgmorton St). Same great taste, just with an enourmous space, 30 seats and room enough to chat abou...
Really good coffee in the heart of the city. The place to go if actually care about the taste of your coffee rather than the caffiene hit. Espresso was rich, with a dry finish, with not a hint of grain, bitter/burnt tase.
Flat whites available too.
Take away only - this place is tiny!
