I love this little place and have been known to go far out of the way just to drop by. Great coffee - a place where the fair trade blend tastes good (doing justice to ethical beans everywhere!) and a fab place to shelter from rainy Melbourne and read a magazine. The menu is also amazing
Reviewed by: redbondfan | Date: 12th April 2009 | Report this reviewA precious little gem that also goes by the name 'Cafe 16', this place does the coffee bean justice, using both Genovese and a free-trade option (upon request), at $3 you can't go wrong. And whether you are there for takeaways, a quick sit down coffee, or a study spot with a newspaper close by, you feel at home every time. A small but very effective fit-out provides tables for 2-4, or perch yourself on the window bench or shared tables...
With a combination of friendly staff, a wholesome (mediterranean style) food menu that varies slightly each day/season, and quick service, you really can forget that Work/ University is right around the corner...
As a STAX faithful, favourite food options include; the Chicken Salad, Sticky Date Pudding (a winter special), Vege Lasagne, Homemade Sausage Roll with tomato chutney, a wicked Chicken Burger or for a different flavour kick the Spicy Beef Burger, or choose from a variety of tasty foccacias...Oh did i mention that you can get anything on the menu take-away! "Yes... there is a party in my mouth..."
