Amazing!!!!!!. Got to be the Cafe of Customs House Lane, bright and colorful interior instills a great feel. The young and very friendly staff welcomes you with a big smile. Coffee is great. Obviously popular judging from the queue present at the time of visit.
Food is out of this world. They say that if you pay 'peanuts' you get monkeys. SMXL is living proof of this. Food is a bit expensive but of outstanding quality. Enjoyed the intelligent use of haloumi and goats cheese.
My rating 9 out of 10.
I wouldn't go here for a coffee. Why do people go here for coffee? It's roughly as good as any suburban mum & dad cafe, I.e. inconsistent at best - sometimes ok, often bad.
The service is bubbly but annoying - constant up selling. Regulars complain that the staff don't often remember them.
Go here for a delicious (but expensive - 30-50% above other cafes) sandwich or salad. Not coffee. For a great coffee at a slightly lower price go to the nearby eclipse or one of the two nearby Cafenatics.
Generally good dependable coffee with personalised service. Discount for take away when you bring your own cup. 3 soy options available. Can be a bit slow at peak times and the quality of the end result can differ depending on the barista. Good quality food on offer which is quite pricey. Overall, one of the better cafes in this part of Melbourne cbd.

I had to give a chuckle when I saw the number of smokers and the number of no smoking zones here!
The service is friendly, asking for your name then referring to you by name from then on.
The interior is bright and colorful. There are also lots of tables outside.
Coffee? Very smooth, good temperature, strong and not bitter. There could have Bern more flavour to it though -- perhaps time for bean change?
If it's a choice between thus and Hudson's next door, ...
This little gem of a cafe is behind my office building. The atmosphere is very fun with lots of bright colours, however it can be quite noisey in the lunchtime rush!
The service was fast, being asked a couple of times if I had been served.
For the soy drinkers out there, they had three different types on offer and cheap at 3.20 for a takeaway.
The soy cap was great, it was smooth in texture with no bitterness. I'm not sure what beans they use but the coffee was extremely drinkable, one of the best I've had in the CBD so far.
