I love this little coffee spot , it's hidden away but worth finding ! Been here several times and each time my flat white has been perfect . Food is great value and the place is always buzzing . It's a place that's worth coming back to time and again !

If you run a cafe in Sydney and think you know coffee but haven't visited Single Origin you are still asleep and must WAKE UP NOW.

The coffee is world class here. If you're visiting Sydney do yourself a favour and add Single Origin to your list.

Today I had the most gorgeous house blend double ristretto I've ever had. There was a lot of floral notes in the broad middle of the experience and it tapered nicely to a finish that had just a touch of that clay taste I'm so into right now. I awkwardly, self consciously licked the glossy nectar from the bottom of my espresso cup when I had finished.

Service was awesome as usual despite the lunch rush, blah blah.

In the cult of coffee, the Single Origin folks are high-priests.

Right up there coffee food and service wise. Only problem is that they are victims of the \"espresso = ristretto\" fad. Oh wells.

Excellent service and best breakfast menu by light years of any specialty coffee cafe in Sydney. Coffee is more "enjoyable" than "groundbreaking".

Great coffee, lovely staff and delish macaroons. Wish I could pack these guys up and move them to Canberra

Always a nice rich blend of coffee, went for breakfast and that was really nice too, however way too pricey for some eggs on toast. I had to wait about 10minutes for a table with the girl serving seeming to find a place for her friend over other people waiting in que. Would go back for the coffee, but not so much for a relaxing breakfast experience.

This place is the biggest wank.

Firstly, service wasn't great. The girl who served us was rude and abrupt.

My cap came out in a huge cup. Way too big fir my liking. And wow, the barista is capable in latte art, good on them. I'd prefer if they paid more attention to giving me a coffee that is made like a cappuccino not a flat white with chocolate. It was a bit on the hot side too. Disappointed after all the great reviews i had read about the place.

Single Origin are leading the way in Sydney's coffee culture. I find it hard to fault them due to the fact that they are extremely passionate about coffee from their roasting to their delivery of your coffee order at their store in Surry Hills.

I find their coffee a little on the strong side, so I recommend ordering a single shot Ristretto each time if you are going to have a few like I tend to do.

Their house blend has a unique flavour, it comes through nicely even with milk.

If you're serious about coffee make sure you visit these guys for a unique experience.

Yesterday I had two equally delicious flat whites and poached eggs with avo mushroom on sourdough... Everything was amazing! Atmosphere was wonderful, staff were sweet. Unfortunate though that it is now Saturday and the place is closed. Will have to wake up a little earlier so I can get my fix before the flight home.

Ahhhhh, Single Origin. I've never had anything less than a brilliant coffee there, including the best macchiato I've ever had anywhere... It's a pain in bum for parking (nitpicking), and I can't say it's the most comfortable place to sit down at, but otherwise there's few places in Sydney to match it!

I was told about Single Origin and a number of other cafes before moving to Oz a few years ago and tried each of them and found the quality of SO's coffee to be the best. I've gone there nearly every Friday morning ever since. It remains a great place with Gav and Dion's enthusiastic coffee-fanaticism steeped in every cup (btw, as one of the early people involved in the Friday morning groups, it's now widely communicated via social media, but is not exclusively for social media types. It's open to all.)

I've been going to SO for a few years now. It was probably Sydneys first coffee-lovers cafe. Gavin and the team are very commited to educating the community in the joys of great coffee.

Make an awesome espresso but the service is really hit and miss. Service is also somewhat "quirky", which will not be to everyone's liking.

It is NOT the place to go on a Friday morning (when it's invaded by the social media crowd) if you need a *quick* hit of java.

In addition to the excellent coffee, the simple food offerings are tasty and offer good value.

Worth making the effort to hunt down this little Surry Hills gem.

I think I was sold from the first
Moment I went there for Coffee Mornings. Still need to take the time to have the coffee conversation Gavin refers to below.

I think it's worth the fuss. Have been here on numerous random occasions - basically it seems to be run by a group of coffee fanatics eg. one guy became quite annoying, lecturing me to buy a grinder every time I asked to have beans ground for my Gaggia machine at home (to be fair though, I did in fact buy one shortly after!)

Food is great if a touch on the pricey side, and have never had anything less than a perfect coffee there, either in the way they make it or the blend they use. Just sensational quality.

I have no idea what all the fuss is about here. To me, this seems like an excellent example of style over substance, or rather talking a lot about coffee using lots of buzzwords and generating a totally undeserved reputation. I ordered a double ristretto in the single origin of the day which was an Indian, the extraction was about 10mL or something similarly ridiculous. Points for knowing that they were working with a shit bean and needed to mask its shitness by underextracting it, no points for putting the shit bean out in the first place. The house blend in a Strong 3/4 Latte was ok but nothing amazing. Sure it's better than your average cafe still on a single boiler and Vittoria, but it's nothing to write home about and definitely nothing compared to the magic going on at Sydney's Mecca Espresso or Melbourne's Seven Seeds.

It only takes one visit to Single Origin to become a "regular". The excellent staff not only remember your face, they remember the coffee you drink. They make you feel as if you are the only customer in the cafe.

I have been a Single Origin regular for about 3 years now - and yes, they do make my coffee before I sit down. They also surprise me - bringing new blends to try, suggesting alternatives and engaging me in conversations which range from the "how to live a good life" through to the "Free Trade approach to coffee".

I wish I had found this cafe earlier in the day. I think if I did I would have sat there all day and just enjoyed the experience. This cafe is obviously a treasure for this part of Sydney and this was evident by the amount of people stopping for lunch.

The coffee I had was strong, creamy and had a great texture. This place is amazing!
