Not many days go past when I don't wish I was at seven seeds. My perfect cafe.

The coffee is always excellent and the food is great. Good atmosphere and good service. The staff always have time to discuss brewing techniques and offer advice on the range of beans available. It does not get much better than this, without a doubt one of Melbourne's best venues for a coffee.

I'm a big fan of Brother Baba Budan and it's always the highlight of my trips to Melbourne- but is unfortunately shut on Sunday's. I discovered that their roastery Seven Seed's is just out of the city and is open on Sunday's- score.
I like the way there is minimal signage and it's situated on a quiet street and was surprised when I walked in that it was full of people and was a nice open space.
My piccolo was exceptional, tried a clover which was awesome then had a takeaway which was also amazing.
Food is good too, highly recommend this place.

Gotta say, these fancy coffee shops popping up everywhere are great for Melbourne. Seven seeds isn't really near, or on the way to anything. But if your just on a coffee mission and you want one of the best in Melbourne try it, try it now.

Is definitely my favourite place, from the space created by the communal tables and the interior fit out of a warehouse, I couldn't find a more comfortable place to visit- whether it's on your own or with friends.

The food is amazing- French toast, sardine sandwich and eggs are the winners. They used to do an Earl grey granita in summer which was amazing. The pastries are provided by dench bakers of nth fitz.
I'm a regular n don't mind the staff- they're just scenesters.
Coffee wise: order the clover.
Best value for money too.

AWESOME coffee and COOL fitout... The only thing letting them down - The staff's attitude - Having aweome coffee does not justify making customer's feel uncomfortable. It is not just about the coffee; friendly staff awesome coffee chilled atmosphere = A great coffee experience. Hopefully I come across a place that has all of the three elemets mentioned above :) Happy Coffee drinking!

Not bad. Great look, but the whole 'too cool for you' attitude put me off. Great coffee, bad attitude. But maybe it was an off day.

Ventured to 7 last week to experience what people were talking about. I certainly wasnt let down.

Cafe was very busy, but staff assisted us with a smile to find spaces for myself and my wife.

I ordered a flat white to start. Service was promt. Coffee came with lovely presentation, perfect temperature and a lovely rich flavour (perhaps a little on the weak side for me). Thoroughly enjoyable. My pregnant wife enjoyed her decaf latte just as much.

My toast arived. My selection from the limited menu - this is no problem, just an observation.

I then ordered a short mach. This took a little more work to try and get service. Short mach arrived and went down beautifully.

Bought some beans and went home. Have been enjoying these over the last week.

I finally got to head out to 7 Seeds which is renown in Melbourne by the coffee community as a place that makes awesome coffee. It’s an odd place to find like most good places in Melbourne, its hidden in an old factory area and displays very little signage. Luckily I had some better navigated company with me that found it less of a challenge to locate 7 Seeds. Luckily the search did not require me to be a ninja turtle and go in any sewers.

When we entered inside 7 Seeds it was extremely busy but the open feeling of the place made it feel natural and warm with a lot of people inside. Luckily this establishment had polite and efficient ninjas that were able to organize us some seats within five minutes of waiting.

Once we ordered our food and coffee the wait was a while, as it was pretty busy, it was my day off so I didn’t mind the wait. But if I was on a work break for lunch I would probably just get a takeaway coffee during peak times.

The first coffees that were served with our food were a skinny mocha for my friend and a piccolo with the house blend for me. My piccolo turned out smooth with a sweetish aftertaste. Personally I would like it a little stronger and would probably order a strong piccolo next time I go back. My friend loved her mocha and commented that it was pretty good in comparison to what she has tasted elsewhere. I tried her mocha and liked the mellow blend with chocolate; although it’s not my type of beverage, it’s definitely nice for people that don’t like strong coffee.

My final drink ended with a double ristretto of Rwanda single origin. This was recommended by the waiter as I was originally going to get the house blend. The waiter told me they where changing over beans and this would be the better choice. Such friendly advice and informed staff is great to have on board. The double ristretto turned out well extracted with a very sweet buttery flavor and aftertaste of crushed almonds. Very typical but nice flavors that I have tasted from Rwanda single origins in this current month.

I would definitely go back to 7 Seeds as I love the atmosphere as its unpretentious, wait staff are chilled and offer basic polite service. I can imagine that this place will be a gem to go to in the winter as the place has a very warm snugly feeling to it. With so many nice places to have coffee in Melbourne we have the opportunity to start looking for places that not only make good coffee but also have an overall good package that marry good service, atmosphere and nibbles to go with our coffee.

Love this place. The coffee never disappoints and the simple menu is effective. Knowledgable and friendly staff offer great service and a very clever fitout to the warehouse makes this place stand out.

This cafe has been very heavily reviewed in the Melbourne press.
I always find the real test of good service is how they cope on Sat and Sun mornings.
The coffee is very very very good, but the place is increasingly when under the pump
letting me down with:
- A very strange 'queue-up' system to pay vs. make the order, meaning when the place
is pumping you can be ignored standing there for a while
- Esp. when busy at times a slightly 'we are the best coffee' service attitude for consumers
new to the place or not really an 'innercity hipster Melburnian'
- The place could now do with an extra barrista for better flow in peak periods given
the size of the place.
To be fair, the above points are increasingly a problem with a lot of inner city coffee
places once drooled on by the Age/young fashionable hipsters all over Melbourne.
This stops this place from being a 10/10 - coffee itself is very very good.

Consistency is the winner here. Every time whether it's a quiet time during the week or a busy Sunday, coffee is always spot on for me. Can feel the coffee culture in the atmosphere. Superb

Among scaffolding, roller doors and the arse end of university building quietly sits Seven Seeds' discrete facade. Upon entry we were greeted by a warm, friendly atmosphere complete with bike racks to add a nice touch to this open, wharehouse style cafe.

Service was nice enough, tainted with the regular "We work in the best cafe in town". We were seated at one of the communal spaces, where our order was taken painlessly enough but the pain was in the wait. It took a bit too long or out two lattes to arrive.

Once the drinks were thrust before us the experience was a delight. The coffee was made well, although as the milk settled it did reveal a coarse, bubbly head. We tried the house espresso blend which was a medium roasted, chocolatey number that had me gasping for more.

I was enticed by the increasingly friendly staff to try the coffee of the day which was the Carlos Imbachi, Los Narajos, tried as a Long Macchiato, which again took too long. This one was much more complex on the palate, flavours that I won't attempt to explain. Again the milk left a bit to be desired, but it was a long mac!

Overall, we were happy.

I've been to SS twice and while I'm not a big coffee drinker, every friend I brought along has said that SS has pretty much the best coffee they have ever had - anywhere in the world.

So why am I bothering to write this review? 'cos I'm a real foodie and I love the brioche with pear. A vegan/environmentally friendly alternative (tofu ricotta and egg replacer maybe) would be great though!

Similar to what I said about BBB, Seven Seeds will be the best coffee you will drink in Melbourne, especially due to the consistency. These guys are obsessive, the place is essentially a coffee mecca or perhaps a place of worship even. I've been here at least a dozen times and never once had anything less than amazing in my cup (depending on the blend I've selected, of course, but even then the barista gets the best out of it). The sandwiches are also really good, using dench sour bread and good quality ingredients. The staff are uber-friendly, there's lots of space though it's packing out almost as badly as BBB these days (thanks to numerous reviews in epicure and a burgeoning reputation), despite all this it's well worth it. In fact, I think I might head over there now :)
