Coffee was great while Cate owned it...now, it's ok. Newtown have their own blend of Jaspers coffee, slight hint of chocolate.
Cate's food was delicious. I am yet to try the new owners food...although the selection of cakes seems more franchised than home made and rustic as it was previously.
I pop in for my morning hit several mornings each week at the moment. Gets me fired up before work. Flat whites are smooth, consistent and well flavoured. Beans sourced from Jasper coffee. They seem to have their own blend. Not had the food so can\'t comment. But do go for their coffee!

Is nice to sit outside and enjoy this end of Brunswick St, a little out of the main drag.
*Not to be confused with Newtown Workers Club which is the Rob Roy which is a pub and just sounds similar as they probably liked the sound of Newtown SC's name.
I rate this Soy Latte as the best in Melbourne and imagine all their other styles of coffee match this standard, as it is packed with customers every morning.
The milk is always well established and creamy. Sometimes coffee art but not really necessary as the taste is where its at.
The beans are their own "newtown" blend of Jasper.
Deliciously chocolate, not overly bitter and well rounded.
Service is as good as it can be. First in best dressed as quickly as possible.
Food is practical, easy and always good quality. Allowing the coffee to shine.
The dine in experience can be a bit crampe...
