Hidie holes are no longer the purview of 8 year olds: Lawson Grove is a rare sanctuary from the pomposity and bluster of Sth Yarra and Park St. This place is full to the brim weekends, I was lucky to frequent the cave during working hours. So much space, so much good food, a nice Gravity brew and a pistacchio macaron to die for.

Coffee left a lot to be desired, no skills on show behind the machine. Go here for the food, head somewhere else for coffee.

This beautiful & mysterious little café is set in the basement of one of the lanes deco buildings & was once the communal kitchen for the apartments above. This café takes its coffee seriously, using Gravity Coffees’ 6 Degrees Darker blend on a shiny red La Marzocco machine & Mazzer Grinder.
