It's Sunday, late morning, and the caffeine worm is burrowing into my belly. My daughter and I are in need of neutral territory to discuss our dispositions: "How about Axil Roasters in Hawthorn?", I declaimed. Off we go only to find the Coffee barn to be full of Beanhunters of like mind!!!
Never mind, let's hop, skip and jump (coz you do that with your daughters) up the hill to Knead Bakery.... used to be my old haunt. Well, still has all the charm, the smell of real baking, some damn fine beans and a good ol fashioned smile.
RESULT: Daughter and Dad still love each other..... no KNEAD to f...

Terrific atmosphere, evoking the days of yore with it's traditional bakers themed decore. As I sip my lovely creamy morning latte I am overwhelmed by the delicious odours eminating from the pan as fresh ham sizzles urgently in a pad of melted butter...my stomach turns itself inside out in anticipation of an old fashioned breakfast. I just may be the most contented man on earth.

Nice relaxed atmosphere. Rustic decor.

I had a latte and a danish, both were on the very side of good.
Some of my friends had their chai which they apparently make in-house, but found it lacking.

Their coffee is $3.20, which is cheaper the average price for Glenferrie.

This cute, little French style bakery is set on Burwood Road, a very short stroll from bustling Glenferrie Road. Relics from past bakeries line with walls, with heavy, cast-iron pastry moulds and other old-world decorations adding to the charm of this neatly presented bakery, pastisserie and cafe.

Aside from making quite nice, reasonably priced bread, pastries, and light meals, the friendly staff at Knead Bakery also make a mean coffee.

Strong, but not bitter, their Genovese coffee was good. I ordered a strong, long black, and my wife ordered a soy latte. We were both rather impressed.
