Wow. This is a cafe you can't stop talking about. I read the reviews before I went and thought they may have been a bit too exaggerated. But no, the cafe is everything people have said and more.
The line up took about 5 minutes, and it seemed we got in just in time, as this place gets busy.
The idea that the barista came and took you to the machine to make your coffee was pretty unique to me. And it meant I got to see their whole coffee making procedure.
And the coffee? Well... Absolutely superb. For someone who did not enjoy LA, this coffee certainly made it a much nicer place.

Intelligentsia sets the standard for American espresso and this place is a coffee snob's fantasy. All the baristas are excellent. I was particularly impressed by M'lissa, Nicely and Dan. It's best to go there early in the morning or in the late afternoon for a lovely affogato. The lines can be twenty to thirty people deep at peak time which tends to be from 8-11AM.

Intelligentisia Venice Coffeebar is amazing!! What a great concept. To have multiple baristas each on their own 2 group Synesso with Mazzer grinders & tamp area that each barista can customise to their height preference by hydraulic lifting benches! From the front this store is very subtle and could almost be missed, there’s a coffee cup neon sign out front and then a long covered walkway with seating on one side leading to the main bar. When you get to the bar you are presented with a choice of baristas. I was lucky enough to hear Geoff Watts talk when he was in Melbourne and he said the co...
