I go there every Sunday for breakfast. While not consistent, the food is always delicious and the coffee is great. Some staff are better than others but they do have some genuinely lovely people working there. It can get noisy and crowded on weekends but I'd rate it as one of Camberwell's best.

not amazing coffee, but they usually know what their doing.. double espresso a must on market day.. not over the top with flavor, but still rich and satisfying..
I'm surprised at the less-than-positive reviews of Hush Hush! This cafe is a breakfast favourite of mine. I've found the staff to be consistently friendly and helpful (if, at times, a little forgetful). The coffee is better than most in busy Camberwell. I've had a few delightful chats with the head chef who is always seeking to improve his menu. The french toast is a must-try.
Reviewed by: MK | Date: 8th May 2009 | Report this reviewI have frequented Hush Hush many a time and have always enjoyed my coffee there, nothing special but consistently nice. However, it is extremely noisy and the service isn't fantastic. Unless you get the comfortable couches opt for a take-away.
Reviewed by: jfaz | Date: 21st April 2009 | Report this reviewBistro service should be in the past with plastic ash trays, napkins under latte glasses and table number. That’s what you are greeted with at hush hush foods not bad. Coffee has a hint of getting there another training course wouldn’t hurt. The staff need to learn some table manner like at least asking who has what before just putting a random fruit salad on the table and walking off before I could even say its not mine. Once you have all your ordered items on your table don’t expect a staff member to return any time soon not even to try and sale another round of coffees. So you would think things would be cheaper because I the lack of service nope this is not the case but not as bad as Georges up the road where a bowl of chips cost $9.00.
Reviewed by: coffeestreet | Date: 18th March 2009 | Report this reviewI have been here a few times, more because of the convenience rather than the quality of the coffee. The coffee is average and I am sure if you looked harder you could find something better around this area. The coffee does come quickly which is good, it has a nice set out and the staff are reasonably friendly.
Reviewed by: crawf | Date: 7th March 2009 | Report this reviewTucked in an small alley in the heart of Camberwell's shopping district, this busy and crowded cafe is nearly always full.
Whilst I haven't heard great reports of the food, I haven't eaten here. For a quick coffee on the run though, little in Camberwell does suffices more than this. The service is efficient and friendly and will reliably make a good coffee, quickly.
