food is great, outstanding for its price. gus' looks like it belongs on sesame st, but the vibe is genuine, kudos for excelling in that. Coffee was very slow coming on a 60% capacity. Casual is different from slow...when it came though, it was great. only one floor staff memeber was pulling their weight, but maybe it was overstaffed...overall, worth the visit if you're in no rush.

The coffee has fluctuated over the years but my most recent cup was strong and lovely. Such an awesome vibe. The menu only changes every decade or so. But sometimes that has its own charm. People are fiercely loyal if they remember the days when Gus's was the only cafe open in the city on a weekend. We love it's tired look!!

Yeah ok, the coffee is pretty average. But it's drinkable ok - and come on people. This is Canberra, what do you expect?
Service at Gus' is nice and laid back. Massive props for how casual they are, once I came here with a bunch of friends and a raging hangover, we staid for 8 hours and the staff didn't miss a beat. Didn't kick us out either.
Canberra's first and still one of the best!
Consistantly great coffee and good reasonably priced food. Cool relaxed atmosphere even when packed. Service is quick and professional although it can be hard to get hold of someone after you have ordered (like when you want another coffee) but at least they don't pester you :)
One of my all time favs!
