Great location and very nicely arranged space, with lots of natural light. The seats by the window are ideal for watching the world go by over a cup of coffee. Speaking of the coffee here, it tends to be variable in quality. I've had a few near perfect cups of their 'stumpy' drink here. But there have been lots of not so great cups either, so its a little bit of a lottery really. They do make a nice iced latte though, for those rare London summer afternoons
The big negative about this place is the service which is acceptable at best, and mostly borders on the disinterested.
Great space. I sat outside on a stool where they have widened their window sill into a narrow bench.
Ordered a flat white and a latte. They were both well executed, but not exceptional. About halfway through they had lost a lot of their flavour and become a bit of a boring white coffee. Didn\'t finish them.
The caramel slice was delicious. Coconut shortbread with a layer of dulce de latte topped with a thindark chocolate top. Yum !!!
Service was as vague as they come. Couldn\'t get the change right. Completely forgot the food we ordered. But prob just that lass having a dopey hour in the mid afternoon. Perfectly nice and friendly.
This café is beautifully done however the staff have serious attitude problems. Coffee was great food was amazing, please sort out your staff it spoils an otherwise great café.
Reviewed by: meatruck | Date: 2nd March 2010 | Report this reviewAfter getting the hours of operations wrong, I returned again for a second time. Tried out their Picolo which is more like a machiatto. Brilliant! Warm toasted chocolate and a slight hint of toasted hazelnuts came to mind. The Stumpy was more like the Picolo I\'m used too and that delivered as well!

Reviewed by: Am2design | Date: 28th January 2010 via iPhone App | Report this reviewWe made a trip to Fernandez & Wells as part of a coffee crawl around London, looking for something a little bit different to the norm.
Don't be fooled by the sparse white walls and lack of background music, the food and coffee was excellent.
Well prepared drinks were being served, and the menu offered drinks not usually served in other cafes (eg Stumpy's)
The iced latte was well made and the peanut butter cookie was delicious.
The espressos and macchiato we ordered were very drinkable.
There was a great range of fresh food available.
I'm keen to try their sister cafe in St Annes Court which looks to be under refurbishment.
This is such a great café! Set in a long but narrow old building with plenty of charm amongst its white washed walls. It’s a really simple & charming interior, but its real strength is in the coffee. I ordered a Flat white which was made promptly on the beautiful Synesso machine. They use Monmouth beans grinded fresh on one of their two Mezzars’ and the results are fantastic. My Flat White was rich and full bodied with a nutty aftertaste and the temperature was perfect.
I also had the pleasure of sitting down and having a toasted croissant with ham, cheese and tomato that was absolutely delicious. They had something called a ‘Stumpy’ on the menu, an interestingly sized coffee served in a glass somewhere between a Piccolo and a Latte. I will definitely be coming back to this quaint little café to sample more of their coffee and food offerings.
A simple, Spanish cafe serving to my mind the best coffee in London. Dark, luxurious, creamy lattes with just the right ratio of milk to coffee and served with great panache. This is how all coffee should be made. Also expect delicious ciabattas and delectable sweet bites from cakes to custard tarts.
