For a long time i thought the best coffee in North Melbourne belonged to Di Bella Roasting House and Auction Rooms, that is until i caught wind of the existence of a little place called Fandango on Errol St.
Atmosphere? Nothing fits the term "retro chic" more. The warm hues of red, orange and brown is right out of the 70s akin to a childhood visit to grandma's place. While there isn't a hell of a lot of room, the atmosphere and people more than make up for it. Everyone seems on a good vibe here and if you're donning a pair of skinny black jeans and sunnies then chances are you know a few of the clientele already!
Coffee? Well, lets just say it lived up to it's reputation of being the best in the area. The two lattes i ordered - one soy, one regular, tasted perfect. Pleasant aromas, enjoyable aftertaste, very very smooth and silky. No need for sugar on this one! Great lattice artwork too.
Service? With a smile. Had a great chat to the barista (and possibly the owner?) who was sporting a t-shirt of the milky way galaxy and a big "you are here" sign. I knew i'd found my kind of cafe immediately.
Fandango is a must, on your to-do list. If not for the brilliant coffee, at least for the semi time warp!
