Wow! A few tough reviews recently.
I hope they gave feedback to Dan or Hazel and gave them a chance to improve on the first attempt.
Be that as it may, I am her again now and Dan's Rosetta on my FW today is superb! Having been to the NSW Latter Art comp last weekend I must say he's up there with the best.
The coffee underneath still tastes great too ;-)
After arriving at 1:58pm and politely told I couldn't have a dine in last year- thought I would give them another shot.
You can smell and feel the passion from these guys- their reputation is well founded.
However I agree with other reviewers that while the coffee is damn good I have had many better. Just not enough body and for me personally - seriously lacking a distinct character.
I think Sydney has caught up- and in many cases surpassed Alchemy. Sorry!!!
Bit of mixed feelings about this place.
Coffee was really pretty good, but atmosphere and service is hard to mark.
This place really is a hole on the wall, the wait for coffee in the morning when I was there was about 20minutes, which is ok I suppose if your not in a rush.
I had a pourover and the flavour really was pretty unique, I then ordered a flat white to take away and again found this to be pretty washed out.
All in all, I will be back.
After the SMH rated this the best coffee in Sydney I had to go and have a look and taste.
As mentioned by others, atmosphere is non existant and the service slow with lots of people waiting (Saturday afternoon).
The coffee was well made but to my mouth on the positive side, it had lost of flavour - towards the acid some would say fruty end of the spectrum which was nice enough. However on the negative side it lacked the body and mouth feel that would make this the so called best coffee in Sydney. I drink espressos and ristrettos which is coffee not milk and to my mind this is not the be...
