Churchhill Cafe & Larder

When they first opened Churchills had a fabulous deli counter. That soon went. It's changed direction again and now does evening/weekend music & tapas. The coffee used to be quite OK, but last time I tried to order a coffee I was told they didn't do coffee without a food order - only the tapas menu was available - and I didn't feel like chorizo prawns, or whatever it was, at 10 am. I asked for just a takeaway coffee and was told they didn't do those any more. Gloomy room with no other customers. Recently (last week) they seem to be closed during daytime. I enjoyed the beer garden.

The fact that the beer garden was the first thing I thought of says a lot. It wasn't that bad, just not memorable.

Bland but perfectly drinkable coffee, worth a visit for the fantastic food though.

Popped by here the other day. Was impressed by the interior -- very modern and relaxing joint. Sadly, the fireplace was described as an anti-heater by the quirky wait staff (cold air blows down the chimney, making those who dreamt of a quiet arvo by a fire cold).

The cheeses and menu look great, although I didn't try any.

The coffee was pleasant without being anything special.
