The hip minimalist diner aesthetic of this place with booths and barstools is right on the money. Beautiful in its simplicity.
I ordered a petit latte that was a tad on the bitter side. It may have been a misfire but still. Not the worst but not the greatest. Food took a while but the meatballs were super tasty.
But a lot could be forgiven this place largely because of how it looks. They're selling an experience and they're selling it well.
Found this place by simply walking down Smith Street, loved the fit-out and style of the place. The coffee was right spot on, right temp and flavour and the banana bread was really different with espresso butter. The lunch menu on the other hand was just too "out there" I had to start googleing the ingredients and even then I was left confused. I'm off the Grill'd for a burger.

But it really just comes down to who is on the machine. But generally it is just OK, never brilliant when you compare to the quality of some other places in the area. But the food keeps you coming back!

I ordered a short black. I swear this thing certainly did not need any sugar. Whatever bean they are using is very sweet. Almost like a desert.
The place was full of people on this busy Saturday afternoon as the sun went down streaming light beams into the relaxed atmosphere. Yeah I would go back here, it's sweet.
Cavallero makes a good coffee, always offers delicious lattes (and even was open over Easter God bless them).
Quite a good spot for the occasional coffee and the food's pretty good if you're hungry - it's pretty good if you're not too, it's not conditional.
