This is a top notch coffee. As others have stated, the place does get very busy so be prepared for a que.. But they do pound through the orders quite fast so it's not to long a wait. The coffee does come out a little hot than I would prefer and they don't stir my sugar enough. But all that aside I still keep going back because they have a very fresh strong bean that leaves you wanting another one.
Like • Share • ReportThere is no denying that the coffee at Bertoni Casalinga is fantastic and consistently so. As a result of this and the central location they are also consistently pretty busy, which can sometimes mean a bit of a wait (especially on the weekends).
The atmosphere is very much street cafe with pretty quick turnover so it's probably best to grab a takeaway (unless you somehow manage to grab a seat inside or a milk crate outside). Not exactly my kind of thing but to each their own.
Again, the coffee is brilliant...
Ordered double ristretto flat white and double ristretto cappuccino. Coffees were made quickly even though the place was packed.
Coffee was not even slightly burnt. Crema disintegrated fairly quickly.
Coffee was too hot and had to cool before we could drink it.
While the crates for seatig looked were quaint, small wooden stools would have suited better.
So it was the day before the Aroma Coffee festival held at 'The Rocks' in Sydney. The weather was perfect and you could sense the anticipation of caffeine overload in the air. But there was still 24 hours to go and I needed a fix.
I was in Balmaine and needed some local advice. A guy told me that "hands down" Cafe Bertoni Casalinga was the best coffee to be found in Balmain.
