Food is top notch, when you order the right thing, they do it so well! but if you order something different it can be odd - or just not right...blah?
Coffee is up there! this is where the place shines, the cheapest and one of the best syphon coffees in Melbourne! Oh so good!
Where I find this place falls is the service, maybe as it is pretty much always busy or just the hipster staff are just.....I don't know? Maybe I am being too harsh on the wait staff when it really is the bloody kitchen staff who are slack! They seriously are slow...they don't care?

Honestly the coffee, food, atmosphere is all pretty outstanding. Really loved my visit to this place.
I enjoyed a single origin flat white and brewed coffee here, both were worth talking about.
Service was really very good also. Well done guys!

Great expectations on this place and didn't fail to deliver.
Love the decor and the buzz it is fast paced and has a great vibe. Staff dress and look fab.
Coffee has many selections too choose from and hits the spot time and time again. Texture tasty all the boxes are ticked.
Food.... well were do l start? The menu is full of options and diverse choices too. Food was a hit with me.

Crowned as Melbourne's best cafe by The Age, I expected more.
The atmosphere is pleasant but not special. As is service.
My piccolo latte was strong, dark, earthy and nutty. Not the sweeter, easily palatable style blend on offer at so many new cafes. It was well made with nice art, but I've had better.
A perfectly good place for a coffee, but not Melbourne's best.
Took my girlfriend to Auction Rooms recently in the summer time, and the atmosphere is great. The people and the staff were all enjoying the beautiful weather.
Lunch was a ploughman's sandwich with a Syphon, and both were high quality and perfect for the place.
Overall a great place with great coffee, if you're willing to bear the lineup to get in
As a soy drinker, I know it's hard to get the milk right, but the coffee makers at Auction Rooms always seem to get it right. I live around the corner from this hipster hangout and the coffee and food never disappoint me. The staff are friendly (albeit a bit busy sometimes) and the coffee is always quick and delicious. I've had breakfast here too which is amazing. If you want a nice relaxed sit down while sipping your coffee, try to avoid going on a weekend as it's extremely busy and there is a bit of a wait. Great tasting coffee.
