Had four coffees in two days, my coffee had great flavour, perfect temperature, etc...

2 Short Macchiatos
I'm usually put off when I see very large banners out the front of cafés listing all the awards they have won in the past. I'm not a sceptical person, but I personally prefer a slightly more humble approach when it comes to these things. Having said that, Alen's Espresso has won a couple of decent awards, so today I decided it was time to see for myself if this café is worthy of such accolades. The answer is YES!
My colleagues and I arrived around 9am and joined a long queue of people that extended to the footpath outside. "Looks promising" I was thinking, and the anticipation started...
Just started working on George street and was looking forward to trying the abundance of cafes available in the vicinity. Alen's was one of two cafes that everyone in the office suggested as the best on the street.
My first impression was the line extending out the door, so I assumed the coffee must be exceptional. When I got my order, it was handed to me in a rushed manner, with barely a grunt and smile. The coffee burnt my mouth on the first sip, which is my pet hate, there is NOTHING worse than getting a coffee and then having to wait 10mins till its warm enough to drink. The coffee h...
A decent coffee, a little on the weak side for me (and my partner's) taste. Good milk technique and certainly the best coffee I've experienced in Brisbane to date. Definitely geared to takeaway - terrible music and not the most comfortable environment to sit in.

Alen's has "the vibe" - from Alen himself who greets you my name. The staff know what the regulars drink. One day I ran into an acquaintance I had not seen for a few years. Seeing that I was engrossed in conversation, one of the staff pulled my espresso, and brought it around to me, without me needing to place my order. That's an example of exceptional customer service! You can rely on the quality of the coffee, the beat of the music, and very friendly staff.
