After arriving in Newcastle two years ago we discovered Rolador and its coffee and food was great and we spent a fair bit of time there over the first half of the year. Since then our feeling is that it has gone down hill, in particular the coffee which lacks taste and is in most instances way too hot. For some strange reason they never fill a large coffee up either.... We have struggled to get served at times and the meals seem to be getting smaller and smaller which is a pity as at the start they were really good. Not sure what is going on but lets hope it gets better again.
Fantastic coffee much better than the watered down Peaberry crap the rest of the street dishes out! Love the mis-matched style reminiscent of the 50's/60's deco but I must admit the almost punk attire of the staff seems a bit out of place. That doesn't stop me from stopping in as often as possible to sip the delightful brew....their breakfast is amazing especially for a very small kitchen ;)
Funky place, eclectic feel, I like it.
Didn't see a smile on a single staff member's face. Very tense.
Coffee was bitter bitter bitter, awful. (Barista - Blonde lady) I think the double ristretto idea went a bit wrong.
As a foodie, it's always a breakfast favourite. Eats-wise hey have an amazing menu and commendable consistency. Have however been disappointed with my espressos the last two visits, and quite underwhelmed by staff forgetting my partner's cold drink order on multiple occasions.
Time before last, the espresso had a very definite burnt flavour and quickly dissipating crema (I even bought a takeaway as I left to double check it wasn't a once-off); and the most recent visit yielded in grind not only in my shot but obviously dribbled down the side of the piccolo glass in which it was served.
I lerve this place. Drive out of my way for a caffeine fix from here. Can't believe someone found the coffee too weak. I ordered a double shot once and was overwhelmed with caffeine! Some tempting fresh bakery goodies too but don't get these often so can really only comment on how much I lerve the coffee....did I say that already? Proud to take visitors to Newcastle here.
