It so rare to find a cafe offered small or large cup of latte, while sitting in. I have chosen small (double shot) latte, will not opt for a large one. A really strong coffee taste with chocolate and a slight toffee note. Love the outdoor seating.

I tried a magic here the other day. I'm converted.
Outpost is funky little cafe and is something unique. When you first walk in through the main door you enter into the kitchen area - you feel as though you could start helping out with everything that is going on. Then again, you should probably leave that to the experts.

After thoroughly enjoying myself at all of St Ali's other endeavours, it seemed foolish not to try out their latest venture.
By no means as big or as spiffing as their other locations, Outpost offers a different sense of class. A retro fit-out of ovens, cups, jugs and other... Read more
St Ali has just opened its little brother cafe in South Yarra called Outpost! Finally the suburb of South Yarra has turned from a coffee wasteland into coffee nirvana with three amazing cafes all within walking distance of each other! This place is a feast for the eyes and also for your coffee... Read more
I'm loving this cafe's revamp and transition to Axil Coffee beans. A huge improvement has been made to the quality of the coffee and the food is exceptional!!
The espresso that I tried was extracted from one of my favourite single origins, Las Lajas of Costa Rica. It had a beautifully... Read more
The past few weeks has seen me working right round the corner from this little nugget, much to my delight. Outpost feels like an open plan, studio apartment cross kitchen. There's hardly enough room for the staff and customers but it makes for a comfortably awkward experience.

Do a solid milk roast. Strong blend...good acidity.
Visited recently, the coffee is no longer fantastic. Ordered a grilled sardine salad where the sardines were almost lost in a tangle of overdressed sweet pea shoots.
Ok coffee but the soup.. Wow the soup! If this was a soup review 10 but it\'s not....
First time here yesterday, the coffee was bad, seemed burnt, very ashy. Food was ok but not as good as st Ali. Cramped space. Maybe we were unlucky.
I enjoyed a really nice fruity flat white here that was rich smooth, perfect temperature and great chocolaty after taste. Average service though and the food was just ok. You could tell all the passion was in their coffee and quality was suburb and a cool setup

Not sure what to make of this place. Nice coffee, interesting setting. Unique.
Well, contrary to many others' experiences my latte was perfect - just the right strength (i did ask for strong), flavoursome but not too fruity. Pure liquid gold.

Great new coffee being served now which is Axil coffee... Tasty food aswell... Will be back next week.
What is going on with this acidic, fruity coffee, has Melbourne gone mad, funky space, lots of street cred, but I just don't get the coffee
Great fitout! Great to be able to actually sit in the kitchen, watch your coffee being made by a talented barrista and then be able to talk with the chef and part owner , Paul Jewson as he makes your increadible breakfast before your eyes.
Drank a few, ate a bit. Enjoyed thoroughly from start to finish. Definitely recommended.
Went to Outpost on Friday and overall I was very disappointed compared to my last visit. Dirty table and no effort by staff to clean it. Coffee was lacking flavor and milk texturing was amateurish at best with no Rosetta. Very ordinary compared to my last experience at Outpost.
Was probably expecting more...
Were greeted by "efficient", though not overly friendly, staff who directed us to a rather odd seating area that was "barren" and totally lacking personality. We quickly escaped to the alfresco area when a seat became available.

Came with high expectations but unfortunately today they failed to impress. Waitress didn't know what a syphon coffee was (even though it's on the menu)(and then it wasn't available anyway). Espresso was good but not great. Double ristretto latte was same.
Great single Origin, perfectly silky milk - yummy Bacon n Egg muffins.
I can't believe no-one has given this a panning recently. The premises was filthy. Cold drip from an espresso blend is a mortal sin. The long black was thin, creamy and sour. The chop chop salad was atrocious. What has happened to this place?
Great place, great coffee, food menu could have some more consistency maybe
Outpost is by far one of the best hang outs in melbourne. Sean and Jamie take coffee beyond perfection - perfect stiff foam, not a hint of bitterness and wonderful service. Food is fit for royalty.
