I had my first batch brew at St Ali this morning. It was the Colombian Santurio. A clean cup, with sweet notes. I could get used to this brew. As usually, St Ali was buzzing. The new chef from duchess is dishing up some gorgeous meals!
Solid today. Food overshadowed my slightly winey tasting long black. Still pretty good. Food was fabulous, as was my service.
Great coffee. Great cafe but some staff need a reality check. Your not saving lives!

Great latte, smooth and chocolatey. Great feel about the place, they deserve the reputation.
Excellent flavor to the flat white I ordered. Super friendly service. Delicious food!!
It was good!!!
This place is definitely an institution! I'm a bit over the predictably trendy vibe, but this place is an original... Anyway, the coffee was really great. Not the best I had in Melbourne on a quick trip, but really good. I have to say though that I was really disappointed with the service. It... Read more

You don't get an average review above 8 from 50+ reviewers by producing bad coffee or delivering poor service, so it was no surprise to find St Ali delivered on both accounts. Likewise the atmosphere was genuine and relaxed. It was, admittedly, 4pm on a Tuesday rather than 1000 on a Saturday, but... Read more

Great place for coffee. Truly one of the premium specialty coffee establishments in Melbourne.
The service isn't the best in town and but the food is amazing. The quality of the coffee had gone down for a while but it's picking up again, especially with the addition of new roasters... Read more

Finally decided to wait in the queue to see what all the fuss is over. Coffee was good the menu selection excellent and service friendly and attentive. Ambience was too barnlike some people like that style though.
Back to the coffee which is why we are here. Good is not really enough for the... Read more
I want to live at St Ali! The room up the top that looked like an office would be a sweet bedroom. Waking up every morning to coffee roasting wouldn't be bad would it! Walking into this cafe you are blown away by the size of it and the masses of people. The coffee is amazing, so creamy, there was... Read more
This mega-cafe is a 20 minute walk south from the central CBD and can be visited in conjunction with Dead Man Espresso. Once again a unique experience so plan to spend a little time there.

Every time my wife and I visit Melbourne, St Ali is a must! We have never been disappointed by their passion and talent for exceptional coffee.

Mmmmm...how many hipsters does it take to serve a coffee at St Ali? Lots apparently, and only ones that walk slowly and have had facial nerve damage to prevent smiling. Coffee was pleasant black, but lost in the milk of my flat white (magic?). I did enjoy the food, even though I ordered the... Read more
1 Espresso, 1 Flat White
Good strong blend used. Nailed the flat white. Will go again.
Awesome food, awesome coffee. Great atmosphere, slick service
After the rave reviews, I thought I had to check this place out. Tucked away sneakily in a little lane-way, you'd never find this place unless you were looking for it. Given how packed it was though, I think everyone was looking for this place.
The atmosphere is great. A mixture of... Read more
Really nice cafe and setup. It has a nice busy but not frantic atmosphere. The service was excellent even when I ordered a syphon! My syphon was pretty good, maybe a tad under extracted. Definitely a place to visit when you are down in Melbourne.
St Ali is an interesting beast, tucked away in a laneway off the bustle of Clarendon Street. It's a situation that works well for them on a number of levels: there's plenty of room for their on-site roasting, and it gives a definite underground feel to the place; a hidden treasure waiting to be... 1 Flat White, 1 Syphon
Hadn't been for a couple of years so didn't know what to expect given the extensive publicity st Ali receives. It wasn't incredible but there is no doubt they're focused on quality and they still produce great coffee.
Do believe the hype, do do do believe the hype.
Absolutely amazing. The coffee was so delicious. Even if you usually have sugar do not add one here. It is delicious!
Syphon, cold drip, slayer, great food, single origins, great space, roasted on site, need I say more?
Yum
st ali is definitely the best place to get a coffee from in Sth Melb.
I've spent many a penny whilst working over the road at Base.. st ali knows coffee and they are serious about it.. the food isn't bad either. i like a place that gives you a choice of bean when you order a coffee.. it's... Read more
