  It's very difficult to find coffee in the CBD at 5pm because most of the cafes close and don't want to serve customers. I tried three cafes which will remained nameless and i was told to come back tomorrow. I wandered onto the footsteps of the GPO and asked the waiter are you still serving coffee.... Read more

  Walking through melbourne close to 5pm, it was hard to come by a good open coffee place, BUT we stumbled across Federal Coffee Palace... walking in the staff were lovely, really friendly upbeat guys, I asked about what they used and they didnt really know much, just an average commercial blend....   I understand why the reviews for this place are mixed it’s a shame. I don’t think a lack of machine maintenance is the issue - it’s the barista’s. I avoid this place on Mondays and Tuesdays as the Barista who works that day is terrible (although quite pleasant).

  Coffee varies from time to time, never consistent. But the guys there are nice and friendly, I'll probably go back there but there are definitely better coffees in the same vicinity that I'll choose over federal.

  Hustling bustling cafe that hugs the side of the GPO building in Melbourne. The coffee is really good.   Relax and friendly service with flawless professionalism! The coffee was wonderfully smooth, strong without being bitter and was a perfect temperature.
