A unique setup for a cafe. However, I found the environment a bit depressing (which i think i should sit near the window) or maybe, it was just me. A really good, strong coffee, not the best one but worth trying.
Returned late this morning for another consistently great tasting latte and piccollo. Highly recommend.
Still love it. Great idea and coffee. I'll be back one day to get shoes and a suit made.
Captains of Industry is a magical little spot hidden away down a little lane and accessed via a very old wooden staircase to the first floor. This place has to be one of the most original and fresh concepts in Melbourne. Its totally understated inside with vaulted warehouse ceiling and white washed... Read more
It's a nice coffee that they serve here. Quite mild, nothing offensive. I would be inclined to ask for a strong flat white (skinny - gotta watch the waste line). Great service and atmosphere.
Love that it's still hidden and undiscovered by the masses. Quiet achiever. Con: Service is average.
What an amazing setup, tailored for gentlemens needs with a bar, barber, shoe/leather repairs, tailor, and not too forget a cafe! coffee was strong, with chocolate notes.
Wow, what a wonderful place. Best place to get away from the noise and hustle and bustle of the city! Coffee was smooth and creamy, no strong flavours from the bean but a good quality coffee. Def place to visit!
Funky little cafe, hidden away in a side street. Quite difficult to find, as their sign is not very big (or indeed very clear about what they do!) but certainly worth going to. It is one of those places that is so "cool" that it could be intimidating, but isn't. The staff are very welcoming and... Read more
1 Flat White, 1 Mocha
Sweet upper floor getaway from foot traffic. Plus you can get a shave, haircut out tailored shoes made. Double ristretto piccolo was spot on. I've had a magic before and it was too. Ambience - cool, not over bearing. They're stylish, but heck, they're cobblers, designers and hairdressers...
This is the coolest place in melbourne ! The coffee is above the average, but the atmosphere and interior are funky !!
This little hidden place is so beautiful, such a gem. So secluded and hidden, even looking for the entrance door, was not an easy one. You'd think it's just an 'exit door' to the back or somethin'. Anyways, when I went up the little stairs, the place was very 'back to the 50s' era.
Coffee is worth it, let alone the great space and ideas here with the multiple business setup. Make the search to this place.
I've been getting my hair done here since it opened (always get a free coffee!) but this was the first time I came purely for the cafe. Flat white was great, so was the service and it's such a cool buzzing atmosphere :)
This place is cool without being intimidating. The barristas are laid back but friendly, although the beards threw me a bit. I guess it's just their thing. Quite good coffeee, ordered a latte & got a flat but I'll put it down to the aftereffects of the previous night's function which they... Read more
Such a lovely escape from the hustle and bustle of Elizabeth Street.
One of my absolute favorite places to get a good cappuccino in Melbourne's CBD. You have to know where you're going as it can be a tad tricky to find the first time, but it's well worth finding.
The coffee is great, the atmosphere is funky and cool, it has free wifi (a big plus in... Read more
So i was browsing on here the other day to find a new place i could take a friend. we both enjoy a good coffee and often go in search of a good latte during our uni breaks. and so up came Captains of Industry.
One slightly epic journey later (it may have involved asking one of the... Read more
Fell in love with this place. Tucked away on the backstreets of the Melbourne CBD it was unique from the word go. We were warmly greeted and seated very quickly. The staff are very stylish, however there is no arrogance or intimidation. The food was simple and tasty and the coffee well done. The... Read more
I'd heard much about this place lately. It's combination of a cafe, shoe maker, barber/hairdresser and tailor is awesome! The cafe is in the main area and the others off to the side. This place is worth a visit just to take in all the goings on.
The staff were helpful.
Exactly what MavisMae said below me :)
I LOVE this set up. Coffee was good and service was good too. Def will go back and get my husband a suit made from these guys or maybe some shoes :-).
