When I first moved to Brunswick I thought Ray's was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. I loved the music, colourful customers and the relaxed attitude. However, the music is WAY too loud, the staff are nonchalant to the point of being rude and will happily chat to their mohawk donning crusty punk... Read more
1 Long Black, 1 Cold Drip, 1 Flat White
I walked past this place a few times before I went in. I would have reviewed it earlier but I had no idea what it was called as there is no signage anywhere at all!
It's a cosy little cafe and always seems full. The service isn't too bad considering how busy it is. The food I saw... Read more
Excellent 1st coffee, so I had a 2nd which was good but not up to the same standard as the first.
Shame about the new management at Rays, coffee is still really good. But atmosphere and service is dismal. Won't go back!
I believe the coffee here used to be more consistently awesome back in the day, since it changed hands, quality has gone down a few notches. It's still pretty decent, but there is now better coffee in Brunswick (across the road at Tre Espresso for one).
The place itself is pretty cool... Read more
Basically the fallback position in Brunswick. They've been making well-made Supreme coffee here for years. The big communal table is a great place to be on your own while not being on your own, otherwise you can hang out the front or choose one of the smaller tables inside. Menu doesn't seem to... Staple cafe for Brunswick. If you go to Brunswick, then you should head to Ray's. The coffee is always brilliant, rich, smooth, well poured. Food is awesome - and quite amazing since the kitchen is just the space behind the counter! Down to earth, casual and always a great experience.
Have been frequently visiting Rays for 5 years now and have never left the place with a bad coffee. Always a very good standard and the food is just as good. The service is good although you have to wait when they get busy which is quite often. make your way down there when you get a chance.
1 Soy Latte
Good coffee, ample bike parking.
This is still my favourite cafe. I miss it badly. The coffee is always strong and consistently wonderful. Perfect flat whites. I love the atmosphere most though, great music taste. It's especially good on a warm day with a breeze when you're sitting by the front window, or on the boxes out front.
Travelled quite to visit Rays Cafe (or Cafe Ray) a way as I heard this was a great cafe. The coffee and atmosphere was good, but I wasn't totally blown away. I would drop in again if I was in there area. Love the retro and brick a brac furniture.
This cafe has been a Brunswick staple for many years. The food has been a little unpleasant in the past but it's really picked up again. I love their baked eggs, french toast, or bircher. All delicious. Service can be slow depending how busy it is, but that's not too bad. Coffee is pretty good. I... Read more

1 Doppio
Good coffee, decent food, couple of the staff could work on their people skills.
Had a great magic amd cold drip (Sumatra) at Ray today, i've been going to Cafe Atomica for years and am now working in Brunswick, so nice to get a kiwi style coffee made by some kiwi's in another suburb. wicked!
