Good coffee. Good vibe. Good food. Also, great staff. Our waitress, on noticing that one of my friend's poached eggs looked a little overdone, offered to bring an extra one to make up for it. She bought me one as well, despite my eggs being fine.
This place has no signage, yet is so busy we opted to stand by the window bench . Staff are friendly, and service is on the ball. The house blend by Wide Open Road is complex, with a smooth after taste. Full credit to Curtis working the Synesso machine with flair.
It's been a while, but I came back after hearing it had dropped off. Have to say I disagree, or at least they've rediscovered some form. It's still very delicious and certainly pouring delicious coffees!
First off the bat - this is the best service I've ever had at a cafe, made even more impressive by this be the first time I'd been through their the doors. Attentive, bubbly, full of wit and charm, but understated. Genuinely happy staff, and all of them not just one stand out. Never given a 10/10... Read more

My brother lives down the rd and loves this place. I do too! Great coffee and fantastic staff!
Decent coffee and a busy / friendly atmosphere. Very friendly staff.
Nice place for a Sunday morning breakfast! Place was full with people waiting for up to 30minutes for food but the atmosphere made up for the wait with everyone being so friendly! Good coffee and food :)
Atomica beans and Synesso machines not withstanding, the coffee here is decidedly average. Don't get me wrong, it's not the sort of slop you can expect at your average Vittoria cafe (hello Brunetti!) but these guys should do better. My strong lattes here were consistently over extracted and burnt.... Read more
Yes, this cafe is somewhere worth going, coffee is reliably great, the food is good too, the french toast is awesome (although last time i went the recipe was different and not so good... so... hopefully its not a permanent change).
Enough about the french toast, I digress.
lovely little spot. great fit out. simple. fun. the staff were engaged and energetic. serving. coffee was great. well made. light, soft textured milk. well extracted. the beans, either by roasting or the blend combination was a little lacking for mine. nice, gentle and smooth but lack that almost... Most definitely my favourite cafe, a great little spot. Fantastic food (we almost always have 'The Mumbler'), staff that have always made us feel very welcome and in my humble opinion the best coffee in Melbourne.
It's often busy on a weekend so I'd suggest a weekday visit if you are... Read more
When i was local, this cafe was like my second home. Every coffee I\'ve ever had is like liquid gold. Smooth smooth coffees. A really delightful place with a strong local following.
Love this place - great coffee, food and service!
I frequent A Minor Place almost every Saturday or Sunday. There is always a great ambience about the place, located in a residential street it's quiet and away from cars and trams. The staff are normally very friendly and very attentive, always trying to get you a bigger table or a table outside if... Read more
Excellent coffee perfect for a quiet breakfast
Sloppy service: there's a big difference between slow-because-we're-getting-it-right and slow-because-we're-slow. Was asked multiple times about my order which took about an hour to come, then was charged for each non-order. Coffee was overdone and a waste of a beautiful machine. Food is still... Read more
Stepping in to a minor place is like walking in to a university sharehouse, without the smell! The staff are congenial and helpful, service isn't lightening quick but you get the sense that it is because they aren't trying to rush things. The lunch menu is rather limited, 4 varieties of gourmet... Read more
A Minor Place is a must. It's an old house-style building that has been converted into a cafe. There a no shops next door, only more residents, so the atmosphere is always peaceful and still. Plenty of people drop through, but through its location, friendly staff and relaxed crowd, you always feel... Read more
I've visited A Minor Place before and went again today. It's a cute little cafe and cosy inside. It was toasty and warm. The staff seem on the ball and bought the drinks promptly. My cappuccino was a bit weak for my liking, but for what it was , it was quite good.

Like their second cafe, Wide Open Road (WOR), this cafe has no signage outside. I only knew it was a cafe by the chairs and people sitting on the deck.
Just like WOR, this place is lovely. Cute fit out. Not as 'cool' as WOR, but still a great cafe.
My cappuccino was... Read more

Wonderful little place. Actually went to Brunswick East Project for lunch and didn't realise they don't do food, so a quick walk around the corner and this place was a great find! Mexican influence for the food and it's a very balanced cafe, not excelling at anything, but I couldn't fault it too... Read more
