  I advise everyone who enjoys a true 'quality' espresso to get into MBD to try the Guji Shakiso. It has been roasted perfectly, and is delivering a super sweet candied cup.... my espresso was such a buzz. Its such a blessing having such coffee available to us in Balaclava.

  This place is just lovely : ) they use local organic milk and roast on site. Originally we ordered 2 LBs but seeing how they use such good quality milk, we changed our order to lattes. They were rich, smooth and well patterned! And my Bircher was the bomb! Thanks, I'll be back!

  This is one of those cafes that I've heard a lot about but never had the chance to check out. Finally I visited it and had some amazing coffee and food. The espresso had a thick crema and had a strong after kick to it.

  Despite a similar warehousey vibe to many of melbourne\'s cafes, monk somehow remains unique. Perhaps it\'s the choice of old second hand timber and an actual gutted warehouse, as opposed to the overly designed birch and ply faux industrial we\'ve become used to.

  Great little coffee joint. Very good and knowledgable service from the staff, very focused and passionate barista! Wife had a cap and I had a syphon, both were very good. These guys know their stuff, make awesome coffee, and the place is a buzz to be. Definitely get there!

  A full-bodied coffee with balance taste of coffee and milk. The strength and intensity of the blend suited my taste. It such a small coffee (might be as big as Brother Babba Budan), but the interior is soothing. Will definitely return if I am in the area.

  Hard to find, but well worth it when you do! Great little place, nice atmosphere but can be difficult getting a table. Please experience this place, one of, if not the best coffee in Balaclava.

  I had a fantastic long black here, and I love that it came with a little side of hot water to add if I needed to. Monk is a tiny space, I perched on a corner of a big communal table. The staff were very pleasant, explaining the different types of coffee on offer.
