Very cosy (somewhat squashy) serving excellent breakfast fare. Service is quick and friendly. Coffee is above average.
Still the best atmosphere in Ballarat and the coffee much better. Great breakfast menu and ambiance terrific. An improve from previous visits well worth another visit!
I came here on the recommendation of workmates and wasn't disappointed. The coffee was smooth and drinkable and certainly preferable to the burnt bitter water we were tormented with elsewhere in Ballarat. The service is prompt and the alfresco dining is dog-friendly.
Good coffee, good service and good food. Next time I'm in the area I will pay a return visit.
Coffee ok ... Although been many times and it's different every time. Today was no exception. What is consistent is the blank faced staff who look/act too cool to serve you anything but a story on how they work in the scene. Breakfast is usually ok but not outstanding. Are people just fooled by... Read more
Coffee not hot enough no room to move and food takes 4 ever to arrive
It doesn't get better than this in ballarat. Excellent coffee and food, what more could you want.
Small and neat place, gets crowded easy, prompt and friendly service, can't complain about the brew
Rather upmarket and cosmipolitain for a rural centre, Ballarat's long serving L'espresso is a fantastic slice of Melbourne right in the center of town.
L'espresso doubles as a record store with hand selected cd's lining one wall and a list of current favorites sitting comfortable on... Read more
Service outside is a bit hit and miss but the coffee is consistent and enjoyable.
Disappointing, not 100% arabica coffee. Great food with a long wait, still one of the best places to buy that obscure music cd.
Nice n cosy cafe. Service was good. Shame they use vittoria beans. However coffee was still ok.
Good coffee but not hot enough. Great atmosphere but depends on staff. Pricey for food.
Although the coffee is good, the space is crowded and the atmosphere pretentious - to the point where visitors to Ballarat were embarrassed by snooty service. Not a place to relax.
Service is sometimes hard to get. However. Generally good coffee and happy going back.
Nice atmosphere but the coffee was disappointing. Macaron was yummy
Good coffee good service. They do offer Gluten free food if you ask. still my favorite cafe in Ballarat.
it's Lavassa coffee so it's bitter, flat and full of robusta. what's to like... the food is expensive and takes forever to be ordered and then made. not my fav cafe in town - not any more. and it depends on who actually makes the coffee...pot luck!
Best coffee in ballarat by far. Although that depends on the Barista you get which is a shame. This place gets packed out most of the time so expect to wait for everything but it's worth it for sure. Even the local celebs come here, lespresso has been running for something like 20 years and is a... Read more
I have always found the coffee consistently very good and the waiters nice. I would recommend this cafe to anyone and would not consider it pretentious. Although the food is pricey.
Poor service, poor coffee, good food, ok atmosphere
it seems you must be a personal friend of the wait-staff if you wish to avoid waiting an insane amount of time for your burnt tasting coffee
If you like your burnt robusta over extracted with boiling milk thus is the place for you
Yes it's pretensious and you can get snooty service, but the coffee is good and so it the food. Very Melbourne looking, it's great to have something like this in Ballarat.
Coffee extracted to perfection and service friendly - one of ballarats best
