Sorry to (slightly) buck the trend here, but after touring country Tassie for two weeks, desperate for proper espresso, then hearing about this place, my hopes for a sweet syrupy double Riz were pretty high. Seeing two empty single origin grinders at 4pm was a bummer, so I was left with the house... Read more
We were just so confused as to how people were queuing out the door for what is a poorly made coffee using a product (sensory lab) that is way over rated. Having visited Sensory Lab on our way to Tassie I should have known that it wouldn't be nice. There waitress with the short dark hair was so... Read more
I head down to Hobart regularly for work and initially I was a little undecided about the house blend but 3-4 coffees later I have firmed up my opinion on the quality and can give Pilgrim a solid wrap. Staff are always friendly and efficient. Good vibe.
Still waiting for a cold extraction but I gather this barista is a busy one. My score on service is high because I think I received some special treatment. Will calculated (correctly) that I enjoy a clean citrus cup, which he offered today with 2 different surface areas for varying oxidation &... Read more
Had a strong latte and it was ok...quite bitter with long after taste. It seems that the single origin is great but the house blend not so much....why not have a great house blend as well?????? ....just a thought.
Strong almost bitter coffee. Excellent crema and good milk control and temp. Rich flavour and intense. Funky place with low key staff. Top notch.
Wow! Immediate warm reception from staff and single origin blend fruity and smooth as ever. Banana & choc muffin exceptional; homemade charm. Layers of decayed walls exposing past uses with reuse hipster furniture throughout. Fantastic experience.
Espresso thats good enough to make skim milk drinkable! Think that says it all. Best I've had in hobart so far!
Glad to have found this place on bean hunter! Great flavoured coffee!
Pilgrim, you disappoint! Was expecting much more, coffee was near cold, lacked flavour. Service was average, nothing that made me feel as though I wanted to come back. All the best guys, might try again some other time!
Have been several times now and have enjoyed the coffee, keep up the good work.
It can be hard to find a coffee in Hobart on a Sunday if you don't know where to go. Pilgrim Coffee is one of the few cafes open in the business district and when we arrived to see it was packed we had expectation of good coffee. I ordered a cafe latte but wasn't told until it arrived as a flat... Read more
It's pretty sad how this place has fallen. Coffee used to be great. Ever since they have opened 'Property of Pilgrim' it seems as though priorities have changed. Staff aren't very friendly and the coffee is hit and miss. Sorry!
In Tassie for short holiday with the family. Nice to be out of Sydney... though it's hot and sunny up there and cold, windy wintery here. I'll stop as it really is nice to be here. Had read and heard many good things about Pilgrim and my experience lived up to all expectations. Enjoyed 2... Read more
Yea, really solid coffee while down here on business. Lovely little place with good service and rich, punchy coffee.
First reviewed 12 months ago have they changed coffee ? Was a very light roast that struggled with milk . Still looks good and they have a new extension withies seating
Excellent, nice single origin coffee and lovely food with local fresh produce
Much improvement since my last visit. Only negative is that my sister's chai was too weak. My latte and hubby's long black we're great.
Fantastic coffee, fantastic people, my only criticism - they closed over the Easter break!!
Beautiful coffee. My wife rarely finishes her coffee but she had the entire cup and was really happy.
Pork belly sandwich was very tasty and so were the muffins that we had.
Best part is that they are OPEN ON SUNDAYS!
Best coffee in Hobart.
Great coffee in a cool setting. The service was excellent.
Nice vibe, friendly staff and coffee good
An absolute gem. This cafe has great character. The owners are welcoming and clearly know their regulars. The short macchiato was the perfect length with just the right amount of steamed milk to stain. No bitterness, just smooth. The prestigious 3rd place price in the 2011 Barista championships is... Helpfully open early Sunday morning in sleepy Hobart Town to get our caffeine fix. Beautiful freshly baked muffins.
1 Flat White
I like the concept but very overhyped and very over priced. Coffee was standard. Better options nearby
Cold Drip, clever coffee dripper
Axil, st ali, market lane, proud marys, auction rooms
