Re-visited Retro after not having been there since Corey and Josh left and was pleasantly surprised to have a great cup of coffee. The back court yard now has a roof and there are weekend tapas/drinks available which is a great option for the burbs.

This cafe is set in the suburbs of Wavell Heights and clearly stands out as you drive past. It is a strange feeling sitting out the back of this cafe as you feel like you have invaded someones outdoor area as you sit amongst the surrounding houses. Regardless, it is very pleasant. The coffee is OK,... Read more

I have to admit this café has lost a certain vibe since Corey left but it still serves good coffee and the staff are very friendly. I'll keep coming.

When Corey left he took the essence of a great little coffee shop with him. Still looks the same but its just a shell of its old self.

I really like this place and have for a few years. Josh and his team are lovely and I do prefer the coffee he makes. I also strongly recommend the salami toasty. Check it out, heaps of people do.

While I am not a huge fan of the beans these guys use the make a decent coffee. The atmosphere is very cool and to find it in the middle of the burbs is awesome. I live a few blocks away and if they used a better bean it would likely be a cafe I would frequent on a regular basis. Still overall a... Read more

Retro espresso is a unique little suburban cafe. The retro red and black layout is bold, the cafe is nice and breezy in the afternoon and the atmosphere is chilled out with good music playing as you enjoy coffee and one of many tasty sweets on offer. The coffee was not as hot as I would have liked,... Read more

This cafe is literally a "hole in the wall" cafe, that's buzzing from 5am each week day. Takeaway trade is extremely brisk, commuters stopping to grab a decent coffee on their way to work, and even local tradies have become "coffee snobs" thanks to this place. The cafe attracts both people... Read more

I like this place a lot. Easy to pull the car up and grab a coffee on the go, or sit and relax if out walking. Staff always super friendly and remember your coffee. Very unpretentious and you feel very welcome and comfortable where ever you sit.

Been here so many times (out of convenience, as it is across the road from relatives). When they first opened I was a fan, but the novelty wore off fast. The after-taste from a coffee here reminds me of waking up after a night of heavy drinking and chain-smoking. The last few coffees I had here... Read more

I used to frequent this place quite often on the way to work however I changed jobs and is no longer on my way to work. I decided to pop in yesterday for a latte and see if the coffee was as great as I had remembered it. Unfortunately, it wasn't.

I must admit, they were pretty busy... Read more

Great little set up and with some of the friendliest staff around but unfortunately the coffee is lacking.. Not a fan of these beans.. Even when made well it is not overly enjoyable.

Not many other places are serving coffee that is decent at 5am, so this place serves me well when I want to take 10 mins to read a mag and have a kick-starter on the way to an early gym session or run.

Word of advice to the retro espresso guys...change your coffee to a local roast and try some modern coffee making techniques.

I go out of my way to get these guys coffee. No it's not the greatest ever but when u get great service and pretty good coffee you have to take solace in that. They are my best coffee stop on the northside to date.

People stare at this little coffee shop whilst buzzing past as this shop is smack bang in the middle of Wavell Heights. I sat out the front around peak hour during the week and unfortunatley the ambiance wasn\'t the best. Personally, I found that the coffee was more suited to the \'strong and... Read more

Hard to understand why it is so popular. The staff are great, with excellent service but the coffee is just average. The flavour is quite smoky with a strong bitter taste. Every now and then I try it and still the same.

i have been in this cafe because a friend of mine told me to go, well was not a good experience as the latte i ordered was cold and milky. I waited too much for my coffee and the table where i was seated was sticky.

Great coffee shop, easy to stop and grab a great coffee. Segafredo is always a consistent performer. I will order \"strong\" next time.

This place was previously part of my daily ritual until I got my own machine. The coffee isn't badly made, just not the best beans (segafredo) and need to add sugar!!

This place would kick ass if they could get some locally roasted beans!

Super friendly atmosphere, the... Read more
