Ok for a Merlo. Bit watery. Nice BLAT.
The Thai girl barista is the only person here that can make a good coffee. The new guy made me a flat white that tasted like a coffee flavoured glass of water, terrible.
We went to Toowong for another cafe only to find that it was closed. We had just driven past newsroom and so we went back there.
Nice atmosphere. Good service.
The coffee is merlo and for merlo it wasn't so bad. The foam was pretty good and coffee good enough. Not as... Read more
1 Cappuccino
The staff were friendly, and the ambiance of the place is pretty good. I also had a nice lemon tart.
However the coffee was disappointing (and took far too long to arrive). I suspect the temperature of the machine is too variable, as my coffee was hotter than it should ve, which meant the... Read more
I used to come here years ago when I worked in High Street, as it was the only decent place for a consistantly reasonable coffee. And today I have to say, it remains the same. Inside Toowong Village you get what you would expect inside a major shopping complex....average coffees. Outside the... Read more
2 Flat Whites
Pretty decent cappuccino, and great atmosphere about the place. With the combined brain power of three staff, however, they could not tell me accurately what varieties of muffins and pastries were available. English language skills may have been a factor.
Pretty good for Merlo coffee. Flat white and latte were identical but for the cups they were served in. Milk was nice temp and well foamed - not burnt. Food was good - big, tasty serves of fairly standard breakfast fare. Love the rustic interior walls.
Table service would have been nice, but... Read more
This place has a good location and for that reason is normally busy. The food and service don't rate that highly though. I had an OK flat white and sat outside on the pavement people watching.
If you like poached eggs then this place is for you - everyday special it seems. The... Read more
1 Skinny Flat White
This is a nice cafe with a good Merlo coffee. The food is good, especially the specials. The overall atmosphere is pleasant, but sitting outside can be a little noisy as the cafe is situated on a main street corner.
This is a very good-for-value, yummy brekky place! Newsroom gets extremely busy over the weekends in the morning... once, they've told me that the wait (for food) is 45mins when ordering (counter service), and asked if I was patient enough to wait. But the coffee is served in 5mins, or less. They... Read more
1 Soy Latte
I was recommended this place on the corner and it looked OK, though a little cold and outside on the street. It was a nice place to sit and chat but they did make a mistake with my coffee (not skinny) - otherwise it was OK. I had some poached eggs which were average. This place doesn't stand out... 2 Skinny Cappuccinos
This is my go-to place on a Saturday morning. Always nice coffee (Merlo) and atmosphere. The Spanish fryup is crazy good!
Never had a bad coffee at Newsroom. Coffee has always been smooth and just right for me. Really like the feel of the place.
There are better places to choose from for a good coffee
ok coffee. not bad and not great.
Good coffee and service, they use merlo beans. A large is not excessively big and comes with a double shot as standard which gives you a decently strong morning hit. Great value and constant quality.
Merlo Coffee served here. Only grabbed a takeaway but coffee was good temperature and an easy smooth drink
Good coffee and they never make you wait. Very quick service
Good cup of coffee. Long Black was well made as was the Capuccino. Merlo coffee.
