It started out with a visit to Scarborough and breakfast by the sea. When choosing a place to eat we saw a Budan Beans sign at one of the coffee shops. ‘Let’s go here’, was the call as this was a bean that had escaped our attention until now. To cut a long story short, a tweet about the... Read more

A nice little surprise "Hole in the wall"at Sandgate.
Brew their own beans under the budan beans brand and the have a house blend and a SO blend of the month on offer. Small selection of deli food available and only 2-3 small seats outside (but there is a lovely park with lagoon... Read more

I thought I'd give mugshots a chance to redeem after my last two visits proved disappointing. I live in the area, so have been waiting for some time for a good coffee scene to inject a bit more cool into what is a really unique pocket of Brisbane. I'd held off reviewing until now.
This was great when I was working in Sandgate, just a short walk down the street to pick up coffee for me and the other staff, the quality of the coffee was reasonable, and the loyalty card system works well fir a regular. They are friendly and I remember them running a competition for guessing... Read more
'The' place to get coffee on the North side. The milk was expertly stretched. The blend was complex and strong without being burnt or over roasted. It's great to see that even in the far reaches of Brisbane's northern suburbs you can get a single origin that seems to change every month or so. The... Read more

Friendly service and is popular with morning regulars with KeepCups. My small takeaway latte tasted of licorice and was too hot but maybe it was because I'm not used to drinking takeaway coffee (that tiny hole gets me with scalding coffee on the tongue every time - when will I learn?). The Mug... Read more
Ok coffee. Nice little hole in the wall surprise. Extremely friendly staff. I was there 5 mins and they seemed to have person jokes with 3 different customers. Average pricing.
Great to see a small independent roaster giving the local coffee chains a run for their money.
Awesome, friendly, personal service but their lack of industry experience shows in consistency. I\'ve had some near perfect coffees and a couple over extracted over heated coffees. I do so... Read more
I've been meaning to review this place for a while now... I had high expectations, as you would when any new cafe opens up in your local and the rest of the establishments around only serve rubbish for up to and beyond a ridiculous $4.. So on my first visit the aromas sensed on approach backed up... Read more
I've been here a couple of times and it's been pretty good, but my last 2 coffees have been incredibly hot - so much so that I burned my tongue. Not sure if I'm ready to give them a third and final chance?
Fantastic! absolutely wonderful coffee, everytime. The staff offer some of the best service I've ever had. Also really generous with their loyalty cards. No extra for soy either. Muffins are to die for.
5 Soy Lattes, 4 Long Blacks, 3 Soy Mochas, 3 Soy Short Macchiatos
Great Melbourne style hole in the wall, smooth great tasting coffee roasted fresh on site.
Mugshots have the ability to make a beautiful cup of coffee, with a nice tasting bean and machine but unfortunately i have had a few bad ones too. The coffee is inconsistent, when its good...its good. When its average...its very average. Lovely staff though:)
5 Soy Lattes
I'm a self confessed coffee hunter! Always on the look for a better cup.... the next big thing. So when I found a local hole in the wall that was serving coffee every bit as good as I have had in France, Italy and Spain (my coffee 'Meccas'!), I couldn't believe my luck. I always leave with a smile... Read more

I love this Melbourne style hole in the wall cafe. I could smell the coffee beans when I got out of my car. It was exactly the hit of smooth, flavor filled coffee that i wanted.
Good friendly service a little to slow in the mornings however. Coffee not consistent in taste / flavor which needs work.
Mug Shots is just a hole in the wall, but that means it's all about the coffee. They roast their own coffee on site, and they'll tell you all about what they're doing.
Two coffees available at any one time: a blend and a single origin. They've had coffees from a bunch of countries, but my... Read more
