A new year, a new owner and a new grind and things are looking good. Beans now sourced from Brother Espresso/Fifth Battery Roaster and a welcome improvement. Great flavour and good shot, but my cap was still a bit too watery/thin for my liking. A smoother/creamier cap and you'll be laughing.
I found this cafe to have an enjoyable atmosphere. The owner is always a bit of a charmer but that wont compensate for the coffee sorry.

I had a fantastic experience there today! Great coffee and sensational fitout!
We really enjoyed our first visit to 33 Squares today. The fit out of this section of an old wool store building is just lovely, and although there aren't dozens of tables, it's wonderfully spacious. Our toddler Bella had the time of her life crawling around the huge area of clean polished... Read more
very kool out look I love the urban feel it suits brissy very well but really was'nt fussed on the taste of the coffee it was presented well with friendly service.

Very pleased to find this tiny gem. Lovely coffee and atmosphere. Ticks all the boxes for me, even avoided my pet hate of portion control butter. It kind of feels like you're in the middle of nowhere, but there's a steady trickle of folk who all seem very chummy with the staff, which makes for a... Read more

great coffe, cool team. Coffee was smooth and typical grinders body. Good work guys...
Good consistent coffee with great friendly service. Food is simple but made well and tastes fresh. Not coffee, but anyone who drinks chai lattes, both the syrup and tea leave version are beautiful. This is my fav local.
Nice building and location however the coffee was bitter (espresso) and the service average. Adequate.
Must admit things have gone downhill a bit of late. Quality of cofee has deterioarated and staff turned over (though new ones still nice). A bit disappointed. Hope things can pick up

This quirky little cafe is a hidden gem. Fantastic Giancarlo coffee, great atmosphere and yummy food. The staff are always friendly and the service is fantastic.
I love this place everytime I come here and I am always raving to my friends about it! Gorgeous staff, really lovely and caring, major consistent coffee and scrumptious food - what more could you want!

First time visit. I judge a cafe by how they make a long macchiato. Not many places get it right. This place included. It seems some people's idea of a long Mac is watered down coffee with a bit of foam on top. If I wanted a cup of hot water I would've asked for one.
To be honest I'm not phased to much about how a cafe looks as I'm purely looking for a well made coffee. I understand the complexities of achieving the perfect espresso so im not easily pleased and certainly not impressed by mainstream or comercial coffee. I have visited 33 squares a number of... My mate and I are on this quest to try as many different cafes as we can (essentially an excuse to get away from work but we are serious coffee drinkers). I recently learnt of 33 Squares from my mother-in-law who's best friend's son was linked to this cafe. I realised how close it was to our work... Read more
I have been wondering where my favourite barrista from The Gunshop Cafe had disappeared to. Now I know! Paul has turned up at 33 Sqaures, and what's more he's convinced his brother Aaron (who was at Belle Epoque then the Emporium) to join him.
Ok I have to admit that I am a coffee... Read more
My last review was 7 months ago, and that was probably the last coffee I had from here too. Today's coffee certainly won't have me coming back anytime soon. Too hot, over extracted, average milk, burnt flavour - all round a disappointment. Food still great, but a cafe needs good coffee, and this... Read more
2012 price rise: med take away $4.20 Today's coffee not the best, can't say I'm a huge fan of the grind. Lingering mild bitterness as an aftertaste. Good caffeine hit, but not one for the connoisseurs.
Regular here, more for convenience though. Great food and good staff, although regular staff turnover has brought it's troubles.
Coffee is above average but nothing to rave over, but you do get a real good one from time to time. Today's was a little weak and flavourless with a slightly... Read more
What a find. They tell me they have just started opening Saturday mornings but it was busy when I was there around 11. 33 Sqaures is in the foyer of an older refurbished building and it is great to go into somewhere that is not just like the multitude of boring coffee shop fitouts. But the... Read more
