boiled milk. WEAK coffee, know it all argumentative staff. WORST. COFFEE. EVER (Well for ages and ages) avoid. Consider 7-11 as a realistic alternative.

We recently visited Mad Espresso for an afternoon coffee, around 3pm. It's a little hole in the wall spot inside the 141 Queen St building, but there are a few tables available for people who wish to stay for a while. It's perfect for a quick business meeting, but you probably wouldn't be hanging... Read more

I have to admit finding a good coffee on the Queen St Mall can be a difficult find at times. Mad Espresso is a welcome escape from the busy pedestrian area. Not really a cafe where you can spend a lot of time, more of a quick stop.

They serve Campos and they do it well. I got an... Read more

Finally! decent coffee in the queen street mall / albert lane. Passionate coffee loving staff and the coolest part is they are opened late on Friday nights. Add this one to your favorites list.. great coffee!

Innocuous hole in the wall in Albert Lane. They use Campos beans, which isn't the free pass you'd expect with some cafes using it to make terrible coffee. But this place is a winner. Full earthy taste and consistent across the five or so times I've been there. I've struggled to find good coffee in... Read more

A worthy deviation off the Queen Street Mall. Reliable quality Campos coffee, served by friendly staff. Doesn't rate highly on the ambience scale - seating and tables are in an L shape nearby to the lift lobby.

To be fair the coffee is only slightly above average. However I have a soft spot for this place. Especially at 3 in the arvo on a Sunday!

Good coffee and very friendly service. A bit hard to find as they are down an arcade.

Nice little hole in the wall and I commend them for staying open late - about time in Brisbane! But $4 for a regular would break the bank if I did it every day. It's a nice Campos, served with charm, but I think it's done better over at Naked Coffee.

My coffee was prepared by a female barista only after she finished her phone conversation. It was a rush job which was evident in the coffee.

Seriously good coffee based on my experience. Strong ristretto with perfect balance of acidity and sweetness. Great food, particularly the gourmet sandwiches at lunch.

Like many of the great cafes and espresso bars in Brisbane, Mad Espresso is hidden away for you to find. It's not too hard to find and on first impressions you wouldn't expect much of this tiny espresso bar.

Firstly it may just look like an espresso bar; but they also serve cakes,... Read more

this place is no longer mad espresso, its has been bought by stella rossa, this is probably why ur cofffee was like ass, last time i was here i was talking to the owner,, why he sold it , one of the reasons is because campos coffee was trying to get rid of him apparently there trying to put there... Burnt coffee. Was recommended by a friend and was soon to figure out that there is only one barista that knows what he is doing.

Great coffee. More of a take away place but does do good sandwiches as well. Best place for lattes in the mall. Nice and smooth.

Unfortunately not a great experience. After having ordered an espresso "to have here" in a ceramic cup my order was lost in the process?!?! Having waited for almost 10min I got given my coffee in a paper cup! ... Anyway, service aside, the coffee was very avarage, pretty boring in flavour with... Read more

Number of times visited: more than three times over a three month period
Drinks ordered: Piccolo Latte on Doppio Ristretto base.
Typical Campos: bold, ambitious, acidic, and sickly sweet. For me, the blend always seems to clash, the beans just dont seem to work together. Strong... Read more

Pretty much my favourite place in Brisbane. The coffee is consistently fantastic, regardless of the barista. All staff are ridiculously friendly and really make you feel welcome and appreciated as a customer. Whilst it is literally a hole in the wall, there is limited seating available - not much...
