The atmosphere is great, I really love the vibe at night though Friday nights tend to be very noisy and you have to shout to have a conversation and end up with headache. Service is all right. Friendly and prompt enough. Unfortunately, the quality of coffee has gone downhill since its opening. I go... Read more

Yesterday was my second visit to Brew. Both times have been pleasant. The coffee is excellent. Had toasted sandwiches, which were pretty substantial (as with most cafes and restaurants these days, it is difficult to get a smaller portion). I do like the use of a metal bucket for a wash-basin in... Read more

Impeccable service. Ordered drinks that came straight away. The wait on our Arancini balls was a little on the lengthy side, but they made up for it by both offering us complimentary drinks while we waited, and proceeded to offer us our food free of charge. Of course, it was so delicious that we... Read more

Wonderful coffee!
In for lunch a few weeks ago, very disappointing due to staff shortage, food OK, Funky atmosphere, average value, will try again
Atmosphere was brilliant, service was great and friendly, coffee was nearly undrinkable. Sorry, won't be back for coffee. It was overextracted badly.

Sometimes you need only walk into a brew shop to understand how well they *get* coffee, ambience and culture. @brewgroup is one such place. They "get it" all. Brew is easily the most "Melbourne coffee shop" outside of Melbourne. So glad to have found my new brew home right in the heart of Brisbane.
There are no harsher coffee critics than the lycra-clad snobs of the cycling world. I've drunk as many brews as I have ridden thousands of KMs. And my first Brew coffee received a "wow" review. No more words are necessary.
Ok now trying to tell a friend to meet you at Brew is difficult because it's a hard place to find. BUT! It is well worth the effort. A little stroll down a drive way off the Albert Street part of the Queen St Mall and you are welcomed by some funky artificial grass and some quaint chairs, stools... Read more

Very cool atmos. Fantastic coffee; just right in texture and flavour.
Quite the average cup - I was expecting something more tasteful. It was drinkable but not very enjoyable, however, I would definitely return for a food and other drink as it seems a very lively joint.
I first discovered Brew late last year when their opening featured prominently in Brisbane's Vibrant Laneways program. At the time, only the front section was (mostly) finished and it was very much a work in progress. Fast forward several months and Brew has developed quite a reputation (1) for... Read more
Delicious piccolo. Cool atmosphere.
Fantastic coffee! Strong, complex, with just a hint of bitterness. Milk temp was spot on and it was texturised to perfection.
The cafe is hidden at the end of Burnett Lane, and the lane entrance is hidden between the 7/11 and City Hall Duty Free in Albert Street, just near Rocking... Read more
I want to love this place but it's more a love/hate relationship. Brisbane so desperately needs more cafes like this, hidden away, über cool atmosphere, occasional live music, coffee, food and alcohol.
But....... unfortunately the detracting points are:
- Coffee just isn't that... Read more
Much better experience 2nd time here. My coffee was a lot better, without too long a wait. It was a tad cold though, but immediately drinkable. The atmosphere of the back area is a lot better than out front too.
the highlight of this place...is well the place itself. awesome underground hide away decorated with local art and music is pumping and it's away from busy queen st.
service is pretty good - friendly, not fast though, they don't seem to have a good system in place, register chick... Read more
Cool funky little place to hide away from the hustle and bustle. Coffee could be well improved though. Had a long Mac topped up and was a little bitter. Not sure whether the quality of bean or barista skills. Good service and ambience.
Great little underground bar and caffeine den
Travelling from sydney I sought out a few cafes with good BH ratings and those which sounded interesting. This one fell into the latter.... With a decent rating.
Ordered flat white and haloumi with avo and tomato on Ciabata.
Agree with previous reviews mentioning its a... Read more
Coffee was unreal! a very underground, alternative scene - felt a bit out of place going there wearing a suit and tie. It was worth it though.

Keep faith and walk on down the lane - it's tucked away. The "front" is a walk up area with mik crate seats but don't let that deter you. Trough the door is a fantastic basement area with comfortable seating and a grungy friendly vibe. Free wifi and a laptop friendly table height led to lots of... Read more
2 Skinny Long Macchiatos, 1 Espresso

This place is the balls. Coffee is perfect, every time. And in the evenings, the espresso martini's are simply to die for. Staff are friendly and knowledgable, and the owner is a superstar. Best cafe/bar ever.

Brisbane needs more places like Brew. Situated down an alleyway in the city, I already knew it would be cute and quirky with a music vibe; and I was correct. I love Brew mainly for the atmosphere. Great place for a social gathering. They serve coffee and a good lunch during the day and turn into a... Read more
