I had to snaffle a bag of the Ethiopian single after a beautiful citrous espresso this morning. It's a great spot to go to try different blends and different origins, to educate your palate and find out what you really like. Engage the barrister and see what's pouring on any given day(it could be me!).

Tasty but average. Did not live up to reputation.

I am an irregular regular at this place - not because of bad coffee, but because I'm always trying new places before coming back! Sprocket know how to make their coffee - potent, flavoursome and gorgeous. Dropped by a week ago for a long black and a piccolo, my name was remembered despite my... Read more

OMG, this is just an awesome place, the piccolo I ordered was made by one of those trendy young things, you know the ones, all hip and groovy within an inch of her odd head adornment, but man the coffee she made for me was perfect. As for the roastery, I give cudos where it is due, the handbuilt... Read more

This is the best coffee I have found between Newcastle and boat harbour! Very nice!

Still can't see what all the fuss is about, they talk the talk but the coffee doesn't yet speak volumes. An ok piccolo was served quite promptly but nothing stood out about the milk or the espresso. Definitely a funky vibe inside though. Looks to be kid friendly.

A bit scruffy looking outside with a true "lived in" decor despite it's relatively tender age as a cafe. The al fresco area on the pavement is blisteringly, hot with no shade provided. However the coffee is good (Sprockets) and the staff are friendly.

Nice flat white! I found a short black a little harsh but still nice.

Really cute an funky spot - awesome ceiling! A bit of grunge too - surprising for a CBD location... Sadly the coffee lacks something... An initial touch of "my machine needs a clean" followed by a technically OK coffee, but somewhere along the line it lost its mojo - not as impressed as I was hoping to be...

Very good coffee. Food and service? Well they should stick to just doing coffee

Had been avoiding coming here after my fave barista left and a few bad coffees but gave it another chance today. Wish a hadn't. Considering the quality of the competition in this area its pretty disappointing. Watery bitter coffee and felt like I was putting them out by ordering.

See, for roasters and sprukers this coffee should be epic... The food should be spruked about in comparison to the coffee. Not saying it's bad coffee, just a tad disappointing.

Service has really gone downhill... can't explain it. Used to go here all the time but think i'll move on. Coffee has been slipping also..

The new toastie menu makes my trip into town well worth it. Now if only we can convince council to down the price of parking I might stay longer next time. The peruvian single origin was so smooth it literally 'kissed' my lips without sounding wanky!

    nice venue
I like the decoration quite a lot has some sort of retro feeling
I've been there only once so can't really tell how good the service is but they didn't seem that friendly to me especially the barista lady
although she did pull quite a good short

Nice set up with their own roasted beans. I was impressed with the staff who quickly made up a DR piccolo for me. My meal was presented nicely and served outside on the footpath dining area. Overall very nice coffee and dining experience on a sunny Newcastle day.

Got a toastie and a latte for my staff meeting today, its a shame when work tries to interfere with my cafine habit. My sprocket coffee makes the day bearable. Best art of my day!

Went in for a take away today, it came so quickly that I barely had to order (the joys of being a regular customer I guess). The latte was perfect as always, it was just a shame I couldn't stay to soak up the atmosphere, I can easily lose hours here!

Stumbled apon this gem the other day whilst on a trip, doppio Ris was kinda long but easy to drink, piccolo was good too, bit ashy and not very sweet. Going in for seconds:)

Used to be my favourite coffee source on the weekends. Service lets this place down. Coffee takes a long time and staff have repeatedly mixed up or forgotten our food order. Standard of coffee is the prime redeeming feature - provided they have one of their good baristas on. Good coffee but there... Read more

This place is worth a visit if you're in town, if only to check out their carbon neutral air roaster up on the wall in the shop. It seems to result in some pretty good coffee too - they use a double shot standard, & our cappuccino's came out strong, foamy & just the right temp. They have some... Read more
