Such a great find in Newcastle.. Feels a little like Shady Pines Saloon but a coffee bar.. Great service, beautiful rich, dark coffee.. Had the muesli two mornings in a row it was so good. Owned by a family, and was served by one of the owners Garth, great guy.

Lovely rich coffee, delicious mouth watering food. A touch pricey but a nice treat.

The best place in Newcastle for a long black. It always seems to be a perfect temperature with a thick caramel-like crema. There isn't much seating, but they're happy for you to sit on one of the public benches with their coffee mugs! You order at the counter, which I think is a bit of a shock for... Read more

Still my favourite place for a coffee. Consistently good coffee and a fantastic menu too. Highly recommended.

Just a great little coffee shop in the heart of the city. Couldn't ask for more from these guys, they give very good service, and are always kind to me when I go there. WoulGreat for a coffee fix in the morning :)

Coffee good, food good, service crap. If you feel like being ignored and treated as if you are an inconvenience, go here.

Dropped back through on my way to NB fort usual monthly stop in. Promised myself that OPB would be my first of the day. So bloody glad I waited, seriously fabbo, talked a little geek with the barista he was well skilled and loved his trade! Absolute thumper!!

Five hours I drove for this coffee and I was not disappointed. Was a pleasure to see some friendly faces. Espresso was quick despite the apparent crowd and my cappuccino was right on the mark.

Fantastic coffee every time. Loving the Black Star beans. My second favourite place for coffee in Newcastle.

I'd liked the look of this place, after walking past a few times, so stopped in for an early brekky today. My long black was expertly made, but I noticed a lack of complexity in the flavour.
As I was paying, the barista (to his credit) asked how the coffee was, and it turned out he had... Read more

Awesome little Espresso Bar doing Toby's Estate. Piccolo was amazing (although served in a tiny take away cup!) and the vibe is very relaxed and cool.

Went on a sunday. The blackstar blend has a consistent smooth flavor all the way to the end. Milk was done perfect. Overall coffee, service and atmosphere it's the benchmark in newcastle.

Tried this cafe again...with much the same result. The service from both the person taking our orders and the barista was not especially welcoming. Our toasties were quite tasty and arrived quickly, but the coffees took awhile to arrive and were almost cold when they finally made it to the table.

Colombia coffee! It was so good. Had a long black which was so smooth. Friend had a chai and she loved that as well.

Have been before but wanted to go again before i wrote a review. Me and my wife went into this very busy & ordered our coffees and saw that they had macarons, so we ordered some of those too. Coffee was smooth, great temp and had good presentation, macarons were delicious (some of the best we have had).

Staff seem really knowledgable about their craft, flavour intensity was great. Temperature was slightly cooler than would be ideal. Seating not comfortable so detracted somewhat from the experience. Had banana bread which was more of a cake...... was so so.

I had quite high expectations about this place and unfortunately I got pretty disappointed when my latte arrived. The latte art looked as if the barista had had his eyes closed and the milk was too hot (but not burnt). It tasted nice though after letting it cool down for a few minutes. You could... Read more

These guys are awesome, my double ristrettos were great, vibe was funky, the pastries looked really really good! Decor was trendy. The baristas huen and garth were fun to talk to and to get your coffee geek on! Piccolos were ok. Food was basic, but oh so tasty.

A really cool vibe. It's got this nice old world feel, old photos and trimmings, makes for a sweet experience. They use Toby's which is probably still seen relatively cool in Newcastle, and they do it well.

I have a Java single espresso, nice bright acidity, not a lot of sweetness,... Read more
